Great Welcome center for Lake Murray
Feb 2019 • Solo
We love Lake Murray and a while back got my eclipse glasses here. The Lake has a great history and you can view much of it in the museum part of this house. Lots of pics and trivia. learn about the early days and Gen Doolittle's practicing on the lake for WW2

The Visitors Center is an older home that was moved to the site. In the back of the house are exhibits about the history of the lake.

Little hidden gem of information!
Feb 2018 • Family
I stopped by here shortly after moving to the area, as I just happened to drive by and see the sign. I LOVED all the brochures for different attractions, restaurants and activities of SC. Not just the Lake Murray area either. I will continue to stop here to find resources whenever we have visitors in town!

Fun and helpful place for visitors

We stopped in for some information about the lake and found the staff to be helpful and gracious. The immense shore line of Lake Murray (over 500 miles, I think) was memorable. The view of so much of the lake from the damn that created it gives one a sense of the magnitude it has and an awe of the Great Heavenly Creator.

Thanks for stopping in. Lake Murray is a very large lake that covers a four county area with 650 miles of shorline.

A small welcome center mainly for the Lake Murray construction. There is a dam creating this reservoir. Bathrooms clean.

Our Visitor's Center has lots of information on the four counties around Lake Murray. Visitors love the literature racks which have over 450 brochures, maps and rack cards on things to do and see in the four county region. Stop in and let us show you all this region offers.

Is This Place Open?
Jun 2017 • Business
Been by this place several times in and out of Columbia, and twice I stopped in during "regular hours" to find it locked. This is essentially a charming old house that looks nice from the outside with parking but seems that nobody's home!

Quaint building, much information inside!
Oct 2016 • Family
We were new to the area and looking for local information about how to enjoy Lake Murray. The woman working in the visitors center at the time was knowledgeable and friendly, willing to help us learn about the area.

Saved during the evacuation from Myrtle Beach
Oct 2016 • Couples
While unsuccessfully attempting to find a hotel in the Columbia area after the mandatory evacuation, we visited Lake Murray, then followed the Welcome Center sign. At the center, Specialist Lorraine Hayes found us a great hotel room, personally phoning places on her list, relaying the information, and assisting us to book a room. Now that was a welcome experience!
