This is the 2nd time we have attended this center. The area of the home you can tour is not terribly large. They have restrooms and a water cooler with what felt like the most cold water I ever tasted. We like reading all the interesting face about Lake Murray. We probably would have stayed longer but they were about to close. We had our boat with us and the young man attending the desk was able to direct is to the nearest boat launch. When we visit Lake Murray, we will likely stop and visit. Reading about the history of the lake made our boating trip more interesting.

While unsuccessfully attempting to find a hotel in the Columbia area after the mandatory evacuation, we visited Lake Murray, then followed the Welcome Center sign. At the center, Specialist Lorraine Hayes found us a great hotel room, personally phoning places on her list, relaying the information, and assisting us to book a room. Now that was a welcome experience!

Been by this place several times in and out of Columbia, and twice I stopped in during "regular hours" to find it locked. This is essentially a charming old house that looks nice from the outside with parking but seems that nobody's home!

This was a great place. My family enjoyed a day at the lake, in the water, and access to the charcoal grill.

This was a neat place to stop. It isn't terribly big, so don't plan on staying very long, but it is definitely worth seeing the history of the area. I learned SO much about Lake Murray and my out of town guests loved to hear about it before spending the day on this special lake!

Stopped in to get some background on our area and found this to be a very pleasant and informative spot that addressed my needs to a "T" Would definitely suggest a visit to newcomers as a way to get an appreciation for the area.

We were looking for the Lake Murray Dam and saw the Visitor Center. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We didn't know much about the area at all and only had the afternoon to explore. The staff told us whether the nearby towns had shopping, restaurants, etc. They recommended the Liberty Tap Room & Grill at the Lake Murray Marina. Not realizing it was a chain restaurant, we went and enjoyed it very much. Not usually a fan of chain restaurants, but this one was very good. As it turns out, the dam was only about a quarter mile from the visitor center. Nice walk along the dam and probably the best view you can get of the lake without driving down into the residential neighborhoods.

We love Lake Murray and a while back got my eclipse glasses here. The Lake has a great history and you can view much of it in the museum part of this house. Lots of pics and trivia. learn about the early days and Gen Doolittle's practicing on the lake for WW2
