Once again, I travel for conferences but try to work in a new experience or have some fun during down time. This time to my state capital, Columbia, SC.
I have been on my fair share of ghost tours and pub crawls because I enjoy seeing historic sights and listening to the stories that go along with making the places historic. This was my first time on a food tour with friends.
I don't know why I thought it would be much different then the other tours. I thought it would be about the food and, maybe, some information about preparation or something along those lines. I was so happily wrong. As soon as Pam started telling the history of the buildings, the city, and the many colorful personalities that helped build and bring Columbia to prominence, I knew I was going to enjoy the evening. And then, it got better.
Food! The first stop on the tour was Perlz. It may have been a brothel in the past but you have got to try the Red Rice. Slightly spicy but oh so tasty. It was served as a side to Oysters Rockefeller. The second stop was at Old Chicago Pizza. I know I will be bringing my family back to this restaurant for the Tuscan Chicken and Spinach pizza. Third on the trip was Liberty Steakhouse where I was not disappointed to Shrimp and Grits. After a stop at Hickory Tavern for wings, the tour finished at 1801 for doughnut holes. I thought I was full until the doughnut holes arrived. After the first bite, I wanted a dozen more of the tennis ball sized delights.
Let me end by saying thank you to Gloria and Janet for a wonderful experience.
I think I will try booking you for the Lexington tour for my family.

We really enjoyed our food tour of Newberry, SC on Sept 10, 2022. We got a chance to visit several of the restaurants there that we had not been to before.
The tour was very well organized and every place we visited was ready for our group. The food was great and it was fun meeting and talking with other members of the group.
Touring with us was a local lady who told us about the history of Newberry, the downtown, and local area. Her knowledge of the area was the icing on the cake for a great day.
We are looking forward to taking more tours in the near future.

This was my second tour with Two Gals, both Vista as well as the Lexington tours were excellent! I loved hearing the fascinating historical tidbits and enjoying new tastes of each town. Definitely worth experiencing for newcomers and residents. Thank you Janet and Gloria for a great time!

Just went on another 2 Gals & a Fork Food Tour with five of my friends to Newberry. Gloria and Janet are lovely, fun ladies. It was an awesome day and would (and will) go back to any of the restaurants on the tour. Our history tour guide, Meg was very knowledgeable and gave lots of personal insights about the area.

I would like to highly recommend the Two Gals and a Fork Tour. I did their tour in Lexington yesterday and it was spectacular! We visited five restaurants starting with Private Property and shrimp gumbo. Then onto Keg Cowboy with the best tomato soup ever (and surprise pizzas!). We then headed to Nicky’s pizzeria and we’re served two of their specialty pizzas, one not even on their menu yet. Next up was Bodhi Thai and it was amazing. We were presented with smashed potatoes with sirachi aioli and a pork belly slice. We finished it off with coffee and seasonal apple cake at O’hara’s Bakery. At all restaurants, the chef, owner or manager came out and spoke to our group personally. In between restaurant stops, we got a brief history of the buildings and the town of Lexington. Well worth the ticket price! Thanks Gloria and Janet! And Lindsay was a great foodie tour guide! What a fun afternoon!! I am going to try their Newberry Tour next!👍🏼🙌🏼 — with Two Gals and a Fork Food Tours.

This was a fantastic way to taste some of the best foods in Lexington. We will definitely plan our next date night at one of these restaurants. It was neat to hear about the history of the city along the way too.

This tour was fantastic. In the charming town of Newberry with interesting pieces of history along the way, and a great tasting of different local foods to try out. The tour made my group want to come back to check out the places again for food and shopping and maybe a weekend getaway! Thank you Two gals with a fork food tours!

This was our second good tour with these ladies - our home town, Lexington. We enjoyed the history of the town as given by our County Museum director and the restaurants were all different but great! The highlights were Private Property and Bodhi Thai restaurants. Thanks for a wonderful treat to kick off Mother's Day!

I am trying to plan something special for my family reunion. Do you know if you will be hosting tours on Friday, August 12, 2016. If so, how far in advance must I book tickets and do you have a discounted group rate?
