Best start at the end of Canal Walk near Broad River Road-there you can see the beginning of the Canal as well as the "spillway" of the Broad after it has gone under the I-20 Bridge- There is a heavily shaded trail that runs along the Broad River that is a good 25-30 minute walk .If you start from the... This is a hidden gem within the city that offers a lot for people who enjoy to bike, ride, jog, walk, rollerblade. There is a path that is 5 miles long round trip in which half is paved and the other half dirt road. The dam itself has been there for years and the canal supplies water back then and... More

Columbia Canal and Riverwalk is a great place to run, bike and walk. Fun for the family or on your own. For those interested in distance without fancy gps gadgets, there are mile markers along the way and starting from main entrance to the dam and back is 5 miles. Very scenic and peaceful.

Weekend visit in the morning before the temperature peaked. Many joggers, walkers, roller skating, biking along with or without dogs that greeted us. Scenic view and signs along the way for warnings, distance traveled and history. Seemed quite safe in the morning.

Love running with my dog here in the early AM. I always feel safe. Pathway is marked, paved, and well maintained. 2.5 miles to a beautiful damn, then turning around makes for a nice, flat trail with plenty of nature.
