I have visited a number of military museums - however, I have to say this is one of the best. The facility is well managed, model displays excellent, atmosphere comfortable and docents knowledgeable and courteous. This ranks with the zoo, S.C. Museum and the Art Museum as "must visit" in Columbia.

Admission is free but I recommend bring cash for the donation box - it is well worth it!

This free museum has many displays that you will not find in other military museums. Examples are several exhibits on German WW II equipment & the frame of a WW II glider. This is on the grounds of a national guard unit & you will have to go trough a guarded gate to get here, but you should not have any questions getting in. This museum is a gem!

Have started making a habit of visiting state run military museums. Displays here are a step above most. Interior signage is excellent, with not only good data, but nice design. About half the outdoor displays were missing signage. Of special note are the three German WWII vehicles inside. They are nicely arranged with lots of personal and unit equipment arrayed on them, and good signage. Sadly, they are so crammed in with security barriers that you cannot really see the vehicles themselves. Spent about an hour looking around. Front desk staff was friendly but did not know anything about the vehicles. Drivers License must be shone to gain entry to the grounds.

Was very impressed with this small museum which is ran by vets and offered FREE for all who would like to attend. Lots of interesting artifacts and history. We were greeted upon entering and made to feel very welcome. I highly recommend if you are into history. They even have helicopters and several other pieces of military equipment on display that have been restored. We were lucky and had a vet who joined us towards the end of the tour and gave us a lot of interesting information regarding the place and some of the artifacts. Kudos to everyone who had a hand in getting this together and keeping it open.

We found the tank my father drove in Vietnam and saw so many other examples of military outfits from different eras. This place is well organized and has a lot to look at. The staff were friendly. My kids enjoyed this as well. Great on a hot day for a short break from the heat.

This museum is actually top-grade! We were very impressed during our entire visit and were enthralled by the quality and number of items in the varied collections. I was especially amazed at the weapon/gun collections...some I'd never... ever... seen before! This is truly Smithsonian quality and we will gladly return when we have another chance to visit Columbia! Thank you, National Guard!

This Museum is phenomenal ! I spent a few hours at this museum and was captivated by the depth of the collection especially those items from WWII. I originally saw it about a year and go and have returned to view it. Although I said 2 hours, that is really not enough time to see all the galleries and read all the descriptions. f you are a history buff or researching a project for school or just curious this will fascinate you and your family and kids.

Displays are well organized and loaded with artifacts. Love all the large equipment! We went for the Battle of the Bulge commemorative event and were impressed with the reenactors, displays and the ceremony.

A wonderful collection hidden away and not easy to find. But keep looking, it is worth it! Great South Carolina and American history artifacts and weapons including the first helicopter sold to the US Army.

We took off for a day trip and stopped at this museum. We had never heard of it, and since we are a military family, we checked it out. It was well worth it! It's not a large museum, but it is packed with lots of military artifacts from precolonial to the present day.
