We were very fortunate to see two excellent 2022 Spoleto Festival performances, the opera “La Boheme” and Beethoven’s 9th Symphony in the Martha and John M. River’s Performance Hall. Acoustics for both performances were excellent, but I was disappointed to see so many empty seats for the opera.

Although we have seen past concerts and operas at Galliard during our visits from Myrtle Beach, now that we are living in Johns Island, we expect to come here more often. This was our first time to see the Charleston Symphony Orchestra, and they were superb. Acoustics were excellent, and all of the staff/ushers that we encountered were both friendly and helpful.

Beautiful venue.
Comfortable seats.
Parking in garage is convenient but there is a charge & cars line up into street.

They need to improve their Covid procedures!
It's like going through an airport! Best to get there 1 hour before show.
Long lines to check Covid vax certs. (Yes, you need proof!) Or...you need to pay $25 for a rapid test; they have testing set up.
You're wanded for metals & weapons as well. Keys, belts, cells any metal sets them off creating even longer lines & waits!
Masks required!

A Coke is $7!!!!

Honestly, we’ve never had a bad experience at the Gaillard. However, this experience was down right miserable. Not only do they REQUIRE vaccination, but being harassed constantly during a concert to put a mask on truly ruined the night. I could understand if the venue was packed, but it most definitely was not. At one point, we moved to the middle of our row as no one was in the row beside us and the rows in front and behind were EMPTY, a security guard came into the row to tell us to put a mask on. If the ushers and security guards put half an effort into looking after the guests (a lady was passed out with her head on the seat and other patrons came to help her but not one employee cared) then maybe I would have something positive to say.

This was my 203rd beach boy concert. But because of drunks in front of me and the sexual doing that I encountered during the last of the concert with this drunk guy and no one tell me that I could move up to a seat that was vacant during the whole show and I only asked when only two songs left on the concert. This was on the front row vacant during the entire show. There should only be two drinks for anyone.

This is a first class facility, whether for a SeWe Expo or a concert.....especially the latter. Sightlines are great; acoustics spot-on; staff friendly and helpful. Parking immediately adjacent a real plus.

We saw Little Big Town last night and it was fabulous. Staff was great..everyone from the gentleman I spoke with to order tickets to the bartenders. There were 4 of us and we sat in one of the second level 4 person balconies and it was perfect.

I am just stunned by this venue every time I walk into it. Not just the architecture, but the performances are top rate, as well. This winter I've seen everything from The Royal Philharmonic to pops to jazz--all impressive.

Being from Chicago and used to paying $150 for an average seat, you can attend these performances for as little as $25 for a good seat. Parking $5, not $40. Wow!

Why every show isn't sold out amazes me. Such a fabulous value.

We saw the Saturday performance of the 6th Annual Charleston Jazz Festival with the Monty Alexander Trio and the Charleston Jazz Orchestra accompanied by Freddy Cole and Jane Monheit. All performances were outstanding but when the CJO played, something wasn’t quite right as I could hear some scratchy music that appeared to come from behind where we were seated in row F. Apparently we were not alone since I heard another couple when we were leaving the hall comment that the the sound was not balanced. This was such a shame since the CJO always sound perfect at the Music Hall and other performances that we have attended at the Gaillard never had this problem.
