As a travel blogger, I always seek out unique experiences and the Shem Creek Shrimp Tour with Capt. Bryan was exactly that. A walking tour that includes lots of history about Mt. Pleasant’s role in Charleston’s history, along with visits to family shrimp shacks and a chance to try our hand at casting a shrimp net. Who could ask for more? You can read more about it on Browsing the Atlas.

We really, really enjoyed our tour of the Shem Creek area w/Captain Bryan today! He is very knowledgable about the area's history, we learned alot. He was very considerate, making sure we had water/sunblock & everything we needed. Captain Bryan is enthusiastic & made learning FUN! We especially enjoyed seeing & hearing about the local wildlife. He even caught a stone crab, which he said is unusual for this area. The complimentary key lime pie is the best! We enjoyed the whole experience. We'll definitely go again!

Captain Bryan is wonderful. Walked and talked and learned a ton about the area history, pirates, landmarks, shrimping, local culture, even tried to catch a crab but the pot was empty. We had key lime pie, and he recommended a great local restaurant for local shrimp - excellent choice, and just right Bloody Mary's. Highly recommend Bryan for your Charleston tour - personal attention.

The tour we took didn't have a shrimp boil, but was a very interesting walking and hands on tour experience. Captain Bryan was interesting, had some great insight into the history of the area, and was friendly and entertaining. He really wants his guests to enjoy their experience and provides bottled water, in addition to some snacks. We loved the key lime pie! We tried our hand at casting shrimp nets but didn't catch anything, likely due to a very high tide, but the crab pot had a blue crab and some puffer fish, which were quite a surprise to see! Highly recommend if you are able to do some walking for about 90 minutes and have any interest in history and nature.
