My husband and I bought our tickets online for the 4pm tour. When we got to the carriage location, we were asked if we wanted to take the 3:30 tour instead, and so we agreed. We were greeted by Mike who was our tour guide and met Trevor the Belgian horse. Everything was fine until we started moving. My husband and I sat in the front next to Mike, while 2 other families with kids sat behind us. If I only knew then what I know now, I would've just waited for the 4 pm tour. While Mike did an awesome job as our tour guide: he was knowledgeable, funny and engaging, being with the 2 families sitting behind us was the worst experience I've ever had on a tour. I understand, kids will be kids, but if you have kids under 5 acting up AND you as the parent are letting them scream their heads off and egging them to act up as well, then it's not the kid's fault but yours, the parent. The parents weren't doing their jobs as parents, and they just let the kids shout and scream and kick, etc. It was just the worst, my husband and I couldn't wait for the tour to end. Even Mike asked the parents to stop egging the kids. I was livid. To the Charleston Carriage works, I would like to suggest having a designated time, maybe 2 pm and 3 pm, for families with kids to take the tour, and PLEASE don't put couples with other families with kids under 5. If you do happen to have kids acting up and the parents are not doing a damn thing about it, please tell the kids to behave because their noise or behavior is scaring the horse. It is unfair to us as customers when this happens when all we really wanted to do is enjoy Charleston and have an awesome experience here so we can tell our family and friends about it. Although this experience left a bad taste in my mouth, Mike our tour guide was wonderful and we'd do the tour again with him. I just hope this doesn't happen again to anyone.
