    Just OK and overpriced.
I had the fried shrimp basket appetizer. The shrimp were delicious. Tender, juicy and flavorful. The batter was a bit salty but not too bad. The shoe string fries were awful. Hard and flavorless. Dessert was bread pudding “a la mode” with bourbon sauce. I asked them to leave off the ice cream…..to me ice cream doesn’t go with bread pudding. It was OK but I’ve had much, much better. My drink was iced tea. My bill was about $40 including the 22% tip that was added on since we had a table of 8. APPETIZER $20; DESSERT $10; DRINK about $5. If this had been a $20 lunch I would give it a better rating but this was not a $40 lunch in my opinion.

    Go For The “She-Crab” Soup
Ignoring the inattentive waitstaff and the unimaginative tasting entree, be sure to get a bowl of the ‘She-Crab’ soup. The soup is rich in flavor, full of crab and flavorful on one’s palette. It is one of the best renditions of the “Lowcountry” soup that I have had in Charleston.

An Outstanding Meal from Start to Finish
My husband and I had just finished a carriage tour and Henry's was just a short walk from where the tour had ended. The restaurant was charming with attentive staff and delicious food. My husband had an outstanding bowl of she crab soup and then jambalaya (also delicious). I had a daily special (grouper) plus two sides (the stoneground grits were especially fantastic). We had the bread pudding for dessert -- very good and a nice way to finish our meal. Our server (Heather) was very attentive and had good recommendations of what to order from the menu. We highly recommend this restaurant! It has been in business for over 90 years.

    Visting Henrys on Market Street.
On March 30th, 2024, my husband and I stopped at Henry’s On the Market Restaurant. This place is located at 54 N Market Street in Charleston, SC 29401. Our waiter was Mr. Spencer M, and he was so welcoming. We were starving when we went into the Restaurant. My husband and I like to try new things, so we asked questions regarding the menu. We started off with a Happy Hour drink by their famous Rum Punch. Spencer suggested the following: We ordered a cup of crab soup, followed by a Crab Cake Sandwich and I wanted to try their Jambalaya rice. The food was delicious, basically everything. Spencer was so hospital-able, a nice-looking young man and very personable. He made our dining experience wonderful. When we visit Charleston again, we will stop in for the crab soup which was personally my favorite. Best soup ever tasted thus far. Kudos to the Chef. Spencer you ROCK!!!! MARIAE

This place is totally amazing and we had a blast visiting with friends. I’m unsure if I saw the entire place but I counted four bars on three levels. Because I was traveling with a dog we were not allowed “inside” but could recreate on the roof levels and the outdoor decks. Service was excellent, food was delicious and everyone in interacted with was have as much fun as I was.

I ran into Leo and his dog Duke and can’t wait until the next opportunity.

We went to Henry's while waiting for our carriage ride. It's a beautiful old, restored building and we were just wandering around looking at all the beautiful wood and art from local artists when we met up with a sweet German Shepard and his owner. We chatted with him about the restaurants beauty and inquiring when the live music was going start as we wanted to return after our ride. He was so gracious and told us we could see the upper bar area even though it was closed. He introduced himself to us and told us he was in fact, the owner. Leo was one of the most kind and considerate hosts and thanked us for coming in and enjoying his establishment. He told us all about how he acquired the restaurant, and it was absolutely fascinating. Of course, we returned and had a delicious lunch and enjoyed the guitar playing of Joe Fisher"12 string guitarist and singer". I hope I remembered his name correctly. We met wonderful people from Charleston and our bartender Matt was delightful. I can't say enough about our visit to Henry's!

Would give it zero stars if possible. The "waitress" never came to our table to even get our drink order. Serving others that had came in after us. When approached she told us to take our business down the road. Very nasty and rude. As you can tell by the other negative reviews, spend your money elsewhere and have a positive experience. She obviously doesn't care about customers or the business she is supposed to represent.

Husband and I took the private carriage ride in Charleston and our guide said this was the best restaurant to get she crab soup. She was right, delicious. The Shrimp and Grits was outstanding as well!! Great stop in our day in Charleston!

We had a great experience at Henry's. We sat in the first floor bar area. We didn't realize there were multiple levels at the restaurant. Our waiter was JD. He took excellent care of us. He was knowledgeable of the menu and was able to make recommendations. We had to try the gator bites. They came with a spicy side sauce. They were so good. My husband is a huge fan of jambalaya and Henry's didn't disappoint. I had the Carolina Fried Catfish. It was cooked to perfection. I am not usually a big fan of coleslaw but I couldn't get enough of theirs. We enjoyed our entire experience and the food.

My wife and I stopped here for lunch. She ordered the blacken Mahi and was cooked to perfection. I ordered the Mahi taco, and they were also good. The price point is the same as most restaurants in the area. The service was great. We would return to this restaurant on our next trip.

My husband and I came here after dinner at Church and Union. The rooftop bar is super cute and a great place to hang out. However the drinks are disgusting. I ordered a margarita and it tasted like dirty water. The drinks are also served in small plastic cups. Really great spot but the bartenders need better training.

We were in Charleston and decided to stop in Henry’s. What a great place! I saw 3 different levels with a rooftop, multiple fully stocked bars, servers everywhere and the place was rocking. The band sounded awesome, the food was delicious and the atmosphere was lively. We had a great evening and will be back!!!
