Enjoyed the history on the city during the Civil War, especially the pictures of each site during that era. Good way to start a trip to the city. Our group was 7 people - not crowded.

I felt Alan did a good job mixing in big information with many little known facts or stories. It was some of these little known tidbits that seemed to make the tour, and give it a very personal feel. I would use his company again if I was in the area.

Because April 12 was such an an historic day, Alan was accompanied by his mother and another tour guide named Syd. Alan's knowledge and style of presentation were phenomenal, and he did not need help, BUT considering the significance of 4/12/11, the presence of additional guides made the tour even more special. Alan's pace of walking and talking were just... More

This is a great tour if you want to see "behind the scenes" and see things that you're not likely to see anywhere else. Alan's knowledge of Charleston's Civil War history is as vast as his access to unique Charleston landmarks is unique. He not only knows what happened but why it happened, too. More importantly, he combines that uniquie... More

On Friday, December 28th, the family took yet another tour of Charleston/Savannah. This Civil War walking tour was by far the most provocative and interesting. The guide's historic knowledge lent each of us a perspective and a feeling that made us step back 140 years. He was excellent, enthusiastic and exciting. Great tour

We went on many tours during our vacation to the area and this was by far the best tour! I am not even really interested in the Civil War and just went for my husband's sake, but I had such a good time! Our guide was incredible - he knew everything there was to know about the war and the... More
