About
For the past 20+ years we have been blessed to represent some of the finest contemporary painters in the country. Yet, beyond their aptitudes and accolades, we are also fortunate to represent some of the most authentic, passionate and caring people we could ever hope for. These artists enhance the world around them through a vocabulary of creative expression. As artists ourselves, we have set out to create a gallery that welcomes anyone and inspires everyone. Come see!

    Best of Charleston for sure
We try to go the first Friday of the month for their newest exhibit. this month was fabulous, as usual! Many of the artists were there to chat with us. We love to see the live studios where Robert and Nathan Durfee work. We have brought our grandkids in the past and the staff is wonderful with them; giving them rainbow pencils and sketch pads. RS Lange Studio is our favorite in CHS and we have been here 32 years!

    Something for everyone at RLS
Just spent another thoroughly entertaining evening at RLS! A great studio/gallery to visit anytime yet somehow more exciting on those First Fridays. Interactive and imaginative paintings and sculptures interspersed with humor and plenty of oh wow moments

You'll be glad you took the short walk to see this gallery
The Robert Lang Art Gallery in Charleston South Carolina is hands down one of my favorite places on this planet. The art work displayed in the gallery is world class, with a variety of different styles and artists and there's always something new to see each time I go. My favorite thing is bringing new people there and watching their faces soften or thir eyes light up when they see something that makes them feel good inside.

Best modern art gallery in CHS
We now live in the area, & this is our kids' favorite art gallery! We are always sure to stop in when downtown to admire the rotating art work. Also so inspirational for my tween artist daughter to watch the in-studio artists as they work & paint. Be sure to go upstairs too!

Best Museum and Artists in Charleston
This is hands down the best studio in Charleston. The artists styles are quite varied, from hyper realism to whimsical, to intricate sculpture, making it a studio with something for everyone. There are often small interactive activities and each time I go, I notice something new hidden in the rafters or in small spaces in the walls. I stop in every time I am in town and each of the last few times I have spoken with one of the studios’s artists, who actively work in spaces around the studio. Nathan Durfee and Robert Lang were both very warm and welcome and open to conversation and questions. I even left with a small Durfee painting of a cat at the Hollywood Bowl. Highly highly recommend.

    Wonderful gallery!
My favorite gallery! I haven't gotten to visit in person, but I feel like I have. I've bought paintings from them starting for about 13 years. I also follow them on Instagram. They have diverse artists and you can always find something you love. If I won the lottery I'd buy everything here.🥰

Best gallery we saw while we were in Charleston!
We loved visiting the Robert Lang Studio. The variety of art was impressive and having a chance to speak with Robert about some of the works and projects was incredible. He was very engaging and informative, sharing so many stories and insights to his works, as well as other's. Highly recommend to make this a stop while you are in Charleston!

    Art Appreciation for Everyone!
Robert Lange Studios is refreshingly fabulous! Serious artists devoted to their work, but with a sense of humor that makes the gallery so approachable. All types of media and themes, in a multilevel space that gives you room to wander, to notice the little things. Their printed materials at the entrance are worth a look, as are the artists at work in their studios. Have a little FUN on your gallery crawl!

    Top Notch Vibrancy
I thoroughly enjoyed my first visit to the art studio of Robert Lange in Charleston, the artwork is truly something else and worthwhile a stop by on the first of the month. Each piece is vibrant, and brings together elements of all life aspects in one equal nature fortitude. Highly recommend you visit, Robert Lange is top in the rich Charleston art scene.

An Enchanting Art Haven in Historic Charleston: Robert Lange Studios
Robert Lange Studios is a gem nestled in the heart of Charleston, SC. Housed in a historic 1840 warehouse, the gallery retains its original brick walls and ancient wood floors, giving it a timeless charm that immediately draws you in. This building, once the studio of renowned local sculptor Willard Hirsch, continues to be a vibrant creative space, lovingly preserved and repurposed by owners Robert and Megan Lange. My fiancé, Jim, and I had a wonderful experience at Robert Lange Studios. The atmosphere is both warm and inspiring, making it a must-visit for art lovers in Charleston. We left feeling enriched and motivated by the incredible talent and creativity on display.

What a unique experience we had at Robert Lange
Studio. We knew when we wondered in that the vibe was different from other galleries/studios. It was a casually elegant space, where we were cordially greeted by the artist. We sat down, with our dog, and after some art chat, my husband priced a painting and bought it!!! The quality of the work is irresistible! Check out Megan’s work, as well. Don’t miss this.

Visiting Charleston as my husband and I do each quarter for the past 2 years. Planning to purchase property here. We usually stay in Kiawah and drive in. Decided to stay in the city. This has become a date themed weekend. Staying at the The Vendue -the Art Hotel and learned of the Art Walk Friday so we decided to partake. Found Robert Lange Studios and loved the creative expressive art. Charleston is rich in history as well as known for its low country cuisine. I am now able to say Robert Lange Studios places Charleston on the rise in terms of their art seen! Thanks for sharing the light!

A relaxed and moody gallery. They play music that perfectly compliments the works featured. You can watch artists at work. Laid back, relaxing, and so many oil works that look like photography. Insane detail in so many of the pieces. You can just spend hours gazing, relaxing, end being inquisitive. I liked it a lot.

Best gallery I’ve been to. My boyfriend and I learned about RLS through the conde nast “top __ things to do in Charleston” page and I’m so glad we popped in. Unlike many other galleries primarily or exclusively dedicated to the selling of artworks, which makes casual browsing an uncomfortable and overwhelming experience, RLS is welcoming and fun! A variety of artwork, but more importantly, a variety of “woke” artwork appropriate for the current social/political climate, which I really appreciated. Also enjoyed the witty/funny quotes on the piano and the staircase, the swing (that you can actually swing on!), and the super friendly staff! When I am ready to make my first artwork purchase, I will definitely look to RLS!

This is my first trip to Charleston and this gallery was a must see for me. I was blown away by the experience. Not only did I get to see the amazing selection of contemporary art I expected - the gallery experience itself enchanted me and my family( who are not necessarily “ art gallery” people :). From the warm greeting we received upon entering, to the entirely original, interactive experiences throughout the gallery - we seriously didn’t want to leave. I recommend a visit to everyone - artists and collectors will leave inspired with gorgeous art stuck in their heads, and “non art people” will leave art people :)

The inspiration hit me the moment I walked in the door and grew exponentially as I wandered through the gallery, took a seat or stood in appreciation. Matching the quality of the artwork was the sense of welcome and comfort of the space and the staff. Few places have made me feel I’m “with” the artists like RLS does

This gallery has the finest collection of artists in the Southeast! It's always a real learning experience when I explore the works of these artists. Several of the artists including owner Robert Lange are kind enough to set up their studios within the gallery spaces. You can watch them work, ask them questions and learn so much. Don't forget to visit the upstairs space as well , "It's worth the trip". Overall the best gallery in Charleston run by the nicest young artists you will ever meet.

We stopped by the studio today and were completely mesmerized by the intricacy and detailed works by Robert. We loved listening to him explain his artistic process. Works featured by other artists, like Adam Hall, were equally impressive. What an amazing collection of pieces by some amazing artists. We highly recommend a visit to this gallery next time you're in Charleston!

Let your imagination wander at RLS gallery. The moment you walk into this beautiful gem in the heart of the French Quarter in historic Charleston, you are in another world. I've lived in Charleston for several years, and this gallery never gets old. Their art is different to the other galleries around and gives your imagination plenty of universes to dive in. If you are lucky, someone will play the piano in the main room, and/or you can watch live an artist creating a painting. Highly recommended!

RLS is the best art studio in Charleston. The art is varied: fun, serious, and really amazing. The people, especially Curry, are great to work with and extremely helpful. We always stop by to visit when we are in Charleston, and we usually buy one piece of art whenever we are there. Do yourself a favor and go to RLS the next time you are in that fabulous town.
