I booked a four-hour light tackle and flyfishing charter with Captain David for June, 2022. I have booked charters with other captains in the past, in other locations, but never in the low country. My hope was to check redfish and speckled trout off my bucket-list, and Captain David wasted no time putting the boat on both species. We hooked and landed beautiful trout and some really powerful redfish.

David has been guiding for more than a decade and has accumulated a ton of local knowledge. It is clear he knows where the fish and bait will be seasonally and during each tidal stage. It was one of the more relaxing and enjoyable guided fishing experiences of my life, and one that is not to be forgotten.

Thank you Captain David. I am not certain when I will be back in Charleston but I hope we can fish again when I return.

Thank YOU for fishing with me and the nice review. One of the many things I love about what I do is the people I meet and the memories that are created. Our trip ranks as one of the best for me. Take care and hope to fish with you again too.

Capt. Dave was a fantastic guide on a beautiful Memorial Day morning. Dave’s use of light tackle and various baits made this an incredible morning of fishing, which I hadn’t experienced before. He has a spotless skiff that is perfect for this type of fishing. I’ve never fished for reds or trout with top water lures but Dave put me on the trout first thing. Seeing the water roll just as the sun is coming up is beyond thrilling. Caught some nice sized trout early and then headed up river to hunt some reds. Dave was like clockwork, catching some live bait with his cast net then headed right into some big reds. We caught a couple, and then the big ones started hitting. I caught the biggest redfish I’ve ever seen inland. Dave’s calm demeanor talking me through the fight kept the fish on the line and eventually into the boat (and then back into the water). A terrific fight to end the day. I’ll say I’m thoroughly impressed with Dave’s knowledge of the waters and where to be and when to be there. He’s outfitted with nice reels and equipment that made the whole experience an absolute gem.

Scott, thank you for fishing with me and for the kind, thoughtful review. Pretty work fishing those topwater lures and wrangling that big ole redfish. I look forward to getting out there again with you!

Captain David was a great host and guide. I went with my father in law, and we both enjoyed the heck out of ourselves. Captain David mentioned that he has lived here and fished here for almost 2 decades. His knowledge shows! Not only could he find the fish, it was an awesome history lesson about the waterways that we were fishing. David is a personable guy and very easy to conversate with, making the time on the water a ton of fun. We stopped off at several different spots, and went after two different species of fish (redfish and trout). We used both lures and also live bait, and needless to say we caught our fair share of fish. I can make no guarantees if you will catch fish on your trip, but I guarantee you will not find a better and more knowledgeable guide. I highly recommend this Charter! I wish you all tight lines, Aaron

Dave was a very gracious guide. He new his fishing spots well and his boat was clean and organized. After some instruction I was able to catch speckled trout on top water lures. Dave is very easy to talk to which made for a very enjoyable morning

I had a great time out on the water. David has excellent knowledge of the area and will do his best to put you on the fish. He provided all the bait and everything and I didn't need a license. There was no deposit or anything. Just cash when we got going. I am not an experienced fisherman; however, David taught me a lot that will help me down the road. I would go back out tomorrow with this truly professional, friendly, and fun guy. Thanks

We had a great day on the water. Captain David was first class all the way. He put us on the fish and we just had a blast!! It was our first fishing trip to Charleston and we could not have asked for a better experience. He even gave us recommendations for lunch and dinner and THOSE were top notch too! I would highly recommend David to anyone looking for a great day of fishing in Charleston.

My daughter and I chartered a 1/2 day of fishing on April 9th, 2013. We met David Lane, our guide, around noon at Remley Point Landing in Mt Pleasant. He was on time with his boat, equipment, and bait. He offered options as to what type of fish were currently biting and asked us what what we would like ot pursue. We chose to try some creek fishing for trout and then some flats fishing for redfish. We lwft the dock and headed for a creek on Daniel Island. Within 20 minutes we were casting artificial bait for trout and I hooked up the first one within 10 minutes. We coaught about 6 trout in about an hour and a half and decided to see if we could get a redfish to bite, as the trout bite slowed down. We left the oyster beds and changed to live bait around some dock structures to no avail. David decided that it might be best to go back across the main body of the Wando River to some flats where he felt some redfish schools may be moving around. Although we saw quite a few redfish we could not get them to bite. My daughter finally pitched her live mud minnow on to a shallow flat per David's direction and hooked up. The fish was a 28", approx. 12 lb bruiser, that took off like a rocket. She had to walk around the boat three times as the fish fought furiously. After about 15 minutes the fish finally relented and was landed. David asked if we wanted to continue fishing but by then the sun was begining to take it's toll. Although David had sunscreen available for us, we decided that we had succeeded in our pursuit and called it a day. The ride back to Remleys Point was about 20 minutes and we had a great time. All in all the experience was a blast and David was a slilled guide with great knowledge of the area and very personable. The one thing that impessed me most was the fact that he offered to help us with everything, from baiting hooks to landing the fish, he had no problem with us performing these tasks on our own, in our own way, just like it was our own boat and equipment. Even though the bite on that day was not spectacular, the personality and skills of David made it a great experience.
