My friend and I attended the Sounds of Charleston concert on Wednesday, March 11th to enjoy live music and to learn about the musical history of Charleston. The church has a circular architecture which is unique and well as the interior. A magnificent piece of history.

Check to see if they have any concerts planned. We stumbled on an Irish harp duet. Wednesday nights sometimes host music, but maybe that is just for the March Bach Festival. Cemetery has graves dating back to the 1600's.

If you are taking a walking tour, this is a must see! The shape, the leaded windows. and the cemetery make a grand impression, just make sure you walk around to the rear. My wife is here just to get buildings like this to paint. Wonderful churches just around the corner.

We wanted to walk through the cemetery, and walked by numerous times over two days and the gates were always padlocked. There are no set hours posted, and I guess it is just hit and miss if you will get to walk inside. Just thought I'd let you know... so plan accordingly.

Happened to visit on a day of a shaped note singing activity. I was welcomed to join the group which was not only educational, but great fun! The group was very friendly. Their singing was beautiful. What a treat! The building and grounds are beautiful and unique!

A stop on our walking tour. Different architecture than any other building we saw in Charleston. Very old cemetery with tales to tell.
We did not go in the church.
Worth 10 or 15 minutes of your time in Charleston.

One of those places you can not pass up! Small enough that you can spend 30 mins. wandering around or spend 2 hrs. reading about all of the local history!

I’ve always been drawn to cemeteries, I find them peaceful and beautiful... but since childhood, this has always been one of my favourites. Just take a few minutes to walk through the cemetery, 30 minutes will be plenty.
It’s so beautiful.. the tree with the Spanish moss and old stones.. just something about it that is truly beautiful.
I’d love to learn more about the symbology on the older stones, or even some history about the people who are there.
Though I’ve heard the stories a million times, and walked through a million times.. it’s always a place that I love to visit.

We only went to the graveyard. It is very interesting with graves dating back to the 1600. Many old ones are hard to read but it looked like some have been restored. The history is amazing to read on the gravestones.

We love this church. We chose to get married here. It's history is extraordinary, interwoven with the often painful history of Charleston. It's been a progressive force in the city since 1681! The architecture is stunning; the cemetery is the oldest in the city. The congregation is welcoming to visitors, including same-sex couples.

At least let people know why you feel this way. It's an amazingly lovely historic church with an incredible graveyard. Your one star makes no sense..
