We wanted to walk through the cemetery, and walked by numerous times over two days and the gates were always padlocked. There are no set hours posted, and I guess it is just hit and miss if you will get to walk inside. Just thought I'd let you know... so plan accordingly.

Happened to visit on a day of a shaped note singing activity. I was welcomed to join the group which was not only educational, but great fun! The group was very friendly. Their singing was beautiful. What a treat! The building and grounds are beautiful and unique!

A stop on our walking tour. Different architecture than any other building we saw in Charleston. Very old cemetery with tales to tell.

We did not go in the church.

Worth 10 or 15 minutes of your time in Charleston.

One of those places you can not pass up! Small enough that you can spend 30 mins. wandering around or spend 2 hrs. reading about all of the local history!

I’ve always been drawn to cemeteries, I find them peaceful and beautiful... but since childhood, this has always been one of my favourites. Just take a few minutes to walk through the cemetery, 30 minutes will be plenty.
It’s so beautiful.. the tree with the Spanish moss and old stones.. just something about it that is truly beautiful.
I’d love to learn more about the symbology on the older stones, or even some history about the people who are there.
Though I’ve heard the stories a million times, and walked through a million times.. it’s always a place that I love to visit.

We only went to the graveyard. It is very interesting with graves dating back to the 1600. Many old ones are hard to read but it looked like some have been restored. The history is amazing to read on the gravestones.

We love this church. We chose to get married here. It's history is extraordinary, interwoven with the often painful history of Charleston. It's been a progressive force in the city since 1681! The architecture is stunning; the cemetery is the oldest in the city. The congregation is welcoming to visitors, including same-sex couples.

We were visiting Charleston for Christmas this year and decided to attend the Circular COngregational Church for Crhsitmas Eve service. We chose the 5:30 service and were so glad we did! It was the children and youth's pageant and they did such a beautiful job. It reminded us of when our kids were small and we were involved in these services. The church was warm and comfortable and very crowded, which is a good thing for a church. We felt welcome and were impressed with the pastor and the service in general. A great start to our Christmas away from home!

Unfortunately you cannot enter the church to see anything inside. We were very impressed however by a walk through the cemetery, which holds graves dating back to the late 1600s.

We saw the "Sounds of Charleston" there one evening and were very pleased. It's an interesting building with very good acoustics.
