We highly recommend this tour, fun and informative! Our tour guide, Captain Bob, helped us learn more about this historical city of Charleston than we could have on our own as we walked for about 2.5 hours on an enjoyable tour. He was friendly and informative and shared some interesting history as we explored little known alleys and historic sites in the downtown area. From Ropemakers Alley, to the ruins of a former factory, to the more famous sites like Rainbow Row, we definitely went "off the grid" in a charming and exciting city.

Thank you kindly for your recommendation! We think this tour is a fascinating and unique way to experience another side to Charleston, one that not every visitor gets to see. Thank you for choosing to join us for the experience. We hope to welcome you back soon!

We walked with Steve on Wednesday morning, Oct. 27. It was a glorious morning, and he gave us even more reasons to fall in love with Charleston! We traversed beautiful alleys and hidden passageways that the average tourist would never find - we used one of the short cuts later that day to save steps while touring on our own. Steve's stories and details about Charleston were facts that we'd not heard on any of our 3 previous Charleston tours this week. His personal contacts with Charlestonians and his longtime residence in the city added little snippets of local color that other tour leaders probably don't have. The most sobering sight on the tour was the handprints of the little children who made the bricks that line one of the alleys. Those little handprints certainly caused us to stop a moment and ponder. Steve is an absolutely excellent tour leader, and I heartily recommend the Lowcountry Walking Tour - Alleys and Passageways!

We spent four packed, very fun days in Charleston and the Alleys & Hidden Passages walking tour was a highlight of our trip. Steve was an excellent guide — lots of local knowledge, the perfect pace and a relaxed demeanor that put everyone at ease. We highly recommend him as a guide and would definitely use Lowcountry again in the future

Our walking tour of Charleston's back alleys was interesting, informative and fun. Our guide, Steve Bailey, really knew his stuff - very important for us history nerds. The two-hour tour was just long enough, and we got historical anecdotes that provided background beyond the biggies in the city's history. He also gave recommendations for other house tours as well as a good place to get a beer after the tour. One note: make sure your tour guide's badge shows "certified" - that means they took a comprehensive test on Charleston's history and isn't some person who picked up a big book o' Charleston facts and decided to be a tour guide. Highly recommend!

It is so great to hear that you enjoyed the history presented by Steve. All of our tour guides have passed the City of Charleston's rigorous Tour Guide Exam which is no easy feat. It means that our guests can be confident that they know their history! Thank you again for your vote of confidence. We hope we will have the opportunity to walk with you again soon.

This was our second time doing Lowcountry Tours “Charlestons hidden alleys and passageways”.My wife and I were concerned that the tour would be repetitive, but we had some guests with us and we thought that they would like it as much as we did our first time. Kay was a great tour guide, responsive to all questions and very knowledgeable, and best of all it was entirely different from the first tour we did. Charleston has so much charm and beauty and this tour takes the group into locations that we probably wouldn’t have explored on our own. Thanks Lowcountry Tours and our guide Kay for another memorable visit to Charleston.

While visiting Charleston we took an afternoon walking tour through the back alleys and gardens with master guide, Evans Byrd. It met all of our expectations and more. Charleston has an amazing history, and Evans brought to life many of the known and unknown characters who made this city famous.

Our guide, Wendy, was super-knowledgeable and fun! My husband and I were in a group of ten people and we walked our feet off peeking into alley ways and hidden paths in downtown Charleston. Two hours flew by. Wendy also gave us some information about the architectural styles and the history of the city.

The Alleys and Passageways tour was a unique way to experience Charleston. Our guide, Laurence, did a great job introducing us the history of the city. If you've done the buggy ride and/or a ghost walk and are looking for something different I definitely recommend this tour. You'll learn some more things about Charleston and you'll experience some alleys that you didn't know existed.

Excellent and informative walking tour with Evans. We are very interested in the history of this incredible city which was relayed throughout the tour by Evans. It was an easy walking tour on a beautiful day. We were three adult family members, all enjoyed the tour.
