My three high school friends and I decided on Charleston as our destination for our bi-annual vacation. Getting a Gullah tour was recommended and we were fortunate that Al Miller had space on his 2.5 hour tour. We all agreed that it was the highlight...More
We loved this tour. Mr. Miller is very insightful and hilarious. We learned so much of the Gullah/Geechee culture. Mr. Miller has a passion in teaching others about the black experience and perspective within the Charleston community. I experienced this tour with my son and...More
The owner is a great wealth of knowledge and information. His personality is great in making you feel like you are sharing moments with family and not on an educational field trip. Great tour for first time visitors.
I had done this tour some time ago and enjoyed it immensely. The tour guide is hilarious, funny, knowledgeable and very friendly. We had an amazing time. This is a definite for anyone who is interested in the Gullah and African American history of Charleston.
I thoroughly enjoyed this excursion. Wanting to see something slightly different on my last visit to Charleston, I wanted to learn more about the African-American history there and this tour was a great introduction. We took the 2 1/2 tour and were able to take...More

This tour appealed to us because it took us off the beaten path and gave us the chance to learn more about the Gullah culture and some of the area's black history. Al was a wonderful tour guide! He told story after story throughout the...More
Took the extended 2.5 hour tour which ended up actually being about 3 hours, so don’t book something else too close behind this tour. Certainly not a complaint just plan accordingly. Al Miller was very knowledgeable and took us places we haven’t seen on other...More
Mister Miller took us everywhere and made sure we got to see it all before we left Charleston. He is very knowledgeable and has a great sense of humor regarding history. By the last half hour he had the entire bus singing Summertime. We enjoyed...More
My mom and I took the Sites and Insights Tour with Al Miller. It was awesome. He has immense knowledge of Charleston, it’s rich black history, and the Gullah people and culture. He taught and entertained us the entire trip. If you have the chance,...More
