Many thanks to all my guests who have launched me onto Trip Advisor. My tour is Monday through Friday starting at 9 am with breakfast on the Battery, going through the gates and front doors and into my friends' historic Charleston houses and gardens. You are invited in for a refreshing and hospitable tea party at my home overlooking the Ashley River at noon at the end of the morning tour. The goal is to be faithful to the Southern history and to give you the passion of a Charlestonian as you are treated like a guest, not a tourist.

The Charleston Tea Party tour was a highlight of our visit to Charleston. Our tour, just before Christmas, was small - only 3 couples. June, our guide, gathered the group and we started at Laura's home to learn more about the history and culture of Charleston. Then June took us to several private homes and private gardens across the historic... More

Spent a great day last weekend with a very knowledgeable tour guide, Laura Hipp. We met at her home on Tradd Street where she served an excellent lunch of Okra Soup and finished with wonderful Apple Tarts and tea. As we started out in her car, she pointed out homes and gardens and told us who lived there and how... More

June picked us up at our rental and took us on a wonderful tour of Charleston tailored specifically to the interests of 4 ladies of a certain age. June is extremely knowledgeable about the city and gave us much background that was interesting, informative, and in a depth that isn't normally explained on a general group tour. We saw lovely... I led a small tour group (14) from Virginia to visit Charleston, SC. Based on Trip Review ratings, I decided to add a Charleston Tea Party Tour to our agenda, and it turned out to be the highlight of our four-day trip. Laura was a splendid hostess and incredibly knowledgeable of historical figures and events, sharing many anecdotes along the... More

Laura is a wonderful hostess, the hospitality she showed my daughter and I, was wonderful, we felt like we've known her for years. Her knowledge of Charleston history made you feel like you went back in time. Our best tour in Charleston.

First of all, I have to give a shout out to Laura & June who included my husband and myself, unexpectedly, in their Tea Party Tour. Due to a schedule glitch, our booking agent told us our reservation for a private tour was on Apr 28 but Laura and June had us scheduled for Apr 29. Needless to say, we... More

Started our trip to Charleston with Laura Tripp's tea party and were not disappointed! Laura is a very charming and knowledgeable lady. We toured several of her friends homes and gardens and even ate breakfast in the dining room of The Palmer Home on East Battery where the residents watched the first bombing of Ft. Sumpter that very morning 155... More

I have never met a more articulate and knowledgeable historian than Laura Hipp. The tour begins with a breakfast in a bay window in one of Charleston's original mansions overlooking the harbor. Laura took us through a detailed history of Charleston from pre Revolution, Civil War and up to present day, as well as the history of this lovely mansion.... More

I recently returned from Charleston and had the good fortune to attend Laura Wichman Hipp's Charleston Tea Party Walking Tour. She met our group at the B&B we stayed at and, for the next 2 1/2 hours, we were in awe of her encyclopedic knowledge of Charleston history. We had access to several private gardens along the way and finished... More

Laura picked us up at our "home away from home" and drove us to a delicious breakfast at the Palmer Mansion where June met us. We were regaled with history while we ate looking out on the water beyond Bay St. The walking part of the tour was an easy stroll past the charming homes south of Broad and through... More
