Walks In History, LLC is excited to be operating in the most beautiful and historic city in the United States. We offer a Supernatural Charleston Tour at the ca. 1822 Old Citadel and ca. 1770 College of Charleston, two historic areas that mark two significant revolutions in American history that are revealed through light-hearted yet spooky documented stories of spirits in the Holy City. No other tour takes you through the grounds of the longest battle of the Revolutionary War or to the parade grounds of the Washington Light Infantry. In addition, this tour ushers guests through the persecuted yet inspiring history of black churches in Charleston, including the famed Mother Emmanuel (ca. 1816) and Bethel (ca. 1797). The Supernatural Charleston tour meets in the heart of the historic peninsula, one of the oldest parts of the Holy City, Marion Square, where guests will also see the 1790 wall and 1810 in-tact remains of America's first city orphanage. From May 27-June 12th, during the Piccolo Spoleto Arts festival, Walks in History will be collaborating with Gullah Gullah Tours to offer a very special Porgy and Bess walking tour based on Charleston natives Dubose and Dorothy Heyward's play and libretto. For this unique walking tour through the cobblestone French Quarter that highlights black life in the 1920s and the cultural sites that pertain to the international classic opera Porgy and Bess, visit porgy and bess tours - hope to see you soon -- walking is man's best medicine!

Ive been coming to Charleston for 20 years and taken multiple walking tours. All of them focused on the same sites, same landmarks, and similar stories. Geordie, however, started in a different spot than all the rest and he took us in the opposite direction as all the rest. One of the most interesting themes he weaved into his stories... More

I have done several ghost tours over the years in a couple of different places. This is the 2nd in Charleston. Geordie the tour guide was very knowledgeable and knows his stuff. This tour took us through a different area of the city mostly around the college area. We learned alot about the past of the different sites we stopped... More

We learned so much about the history of Charleston but not much in the way of ghost. Maybe we expected to be able to go inside of buildings but all we did was walk and stop at a few very interesting places and talk about them. Nice tour guide but wished there was more ghost action.

My husband planned a trip for us in Charleston, SC, which of course is a city full of history. What I didn't know is that he had booked us a walking ghost tour with Geordie Buxton; it was the perfect surprise and well worth our time. Unfortunately, we weren't able to make our first reservation with Geordie, due to my... More

My party of 7 (including 3 kids 8-10) took this walking tour in July. Our guide was very knowledgeable and passionate about the supernatural of his native city. We walked a good distance and saw a decent part of the College of Charleston along the way. The stories were laden with history (which I liked). I think my kids would... More

I wanted a tour that took me away from the standard Charleston stories one can learn anywhere, and this fit my hope. Geordie, a local by birth, brought fun, intrigue, and a depth of history to the tour that both my spouse and I thoroughly enjoyed. This is far from the hokey "spooky" tour that makes your eyes roll. The... More

Geordie was one of the best tour guides we've ever had! His ghost tour was really fun — informative, interesting, and sufficiently spooky. We happened to run into him later that night and he invited us to join his city tour the next day, which we did — and we were not disappointed! He captivates his audience with his extensive... More

We are locals and when we have guests come from out of town we get to be tourists and most of our guests have wanted to do ghost tours. This was definitely the best tour we've been on thus far! Geordie kept the tour interesting and told stories I hadn't heard on other tours (a lot of tours tell the... More

We were able to jump on this tour last minute. Gordie and Godfrey were awesome. We really loved the humor they had. They had some great stories and history to share. Some of the history was more recent history. We had a little girl on our tour and it was her birthday. He made sure she was very much included... More

The hubby and I were in Charleston visiting our son. While looking for things to do, we stumbled across a Groupon for Walks in History. We opted for the supernatural tour. I'm glad we bought it. Geordy is an awesome tour guide. He is very knowledgeable about the history of Charleston and an excellent story teller. All of the stories... More
