Martha does great job discussing the history and architecture of the city. I've been to Charleston many times, and learned so much more on her tour. I've taken several different types of tours around Charleston, and learned the most on this one. The tour takes you down some small alleys that I would not have known were public spaces and covers the history from the beginning of the city to current times.

We have taken this tour four times over the years. It never fails to impress. It is not your cheesy commercial type tour. This is an interesting look at the extensive Charleston history by those whose families have lived it since the founding of the city. The guides, thirteenth generation Charlestonians, have a contagious passion for the stories they tell as you weave your way thru the famous streets and alley ways. If you want to learn about this beautiful city, put this one at the very top of your list. You won’t regreat it!

Our guide Susan, lives in Charleston and her family dates back centuries which provided unique insights into the history of the city. We had walked around the city for days prior to the tour, but she took us to places we never would have known existed that were visually beautiful as well as having historical impact. You must take this tour.

This is the best walking tour I’ve ever done. Martha was recommended to us by a friend who had done the tour a few months ago and she did not disappoint. Extremely knowledgeable, affable, and could answer any question we threw at her!

Martha is an incredible fount of knowledge. My wife and I did the tour and this was the fourth walking tour we had done between Savannah and Charleston. This was so much above the other ones it was surprising. It doesn't come from any gimmicks or attractions the other tour didn't have, but simply Martha's deep knowledge of history and her ability to contextualize it and offer nuance. I appreciate someone who understands that history is not a morality tale, but something to be peeled back to gain understanding of the past and connect it to ourselves.

We had a wonderful tour of Charleston! We used these folks based on the recommendation of friends who toured last year. Martha with her background, was the best guide- her knowledge of all the history kept us intrigued to learn more.
Highly recommended to anyone who is interested in learning more and seeing the sites!

Martha found a way to make hundreds of years of complex history interesting and digestible. Very easy to listen to and talk to and extremely engaging while teaching about Charleston's culture. She has almost infinite personal knowledge and experience as a multigenerational native of Charleston, and can answer any questions you may have. Thank you so much!

Martha Middleton is 13th generation Middleton and so her knowledge and passion for Charleston’s history was incredible. She had so much enthusiasm for the history and eras that Charleston has lived through it made the tour so enjoyable and educational.
We had 2 teenagers aged 13 and 14 and they also found it interesting all the way through.
Highly recommended to all!

Martha did a wonderful job during our tour. It was really informative and fun. Martha had plenty of personal stories that tied back to Charleston history. I especially loved walking through the secret passageways. This tour was well worth it!

This is the best tour of Charleston, hands down. Martha is a 13th generation Charlestonian and archaeologist with a deep knowledge of and respect for Charleston's history. She's also a wonderful storyteller! I learned so much, and it wasn't until this tour that I understood the city. She also provides a wonderful list of things to do and attractions to visit. Highly recommend.
