Theatre 99 is Charleston's Home for Improv Comedy. It is not a comedy club as Trip Advisor has listed it as. It is a 130 seat theatre, not a club with tables. We specialize in improvisational comedy which is unscripted theatre. It makes for a very funny night. We just don't want users of Trip Advisor to come expecting stand up comics telling jokes on a microphone. Theatre 99 does host stand up comedy shows periodically, but our main focus is improve comedy on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday nights at 8:00 p.m. Thank you for supporting live performance!

We have been twice, this time we took a group of business associates. Everyone laughed and enjoyed the show. I have seen the Improve and the stand up. The Improve had me laughing the whole time.

This is your average whole in the wall local comedy venue. The improv shows are Wednesday and Friday, I believe. What a lot of fun. The group is great. They are funny and off the cuff. For just a few bucks you get a couple...More

Improvisation is an art form, and the comedians at Theater 99 are true artists. My honey and I went with our Charleston friends (who are regulars there) and it was a highlight of our Charleston visit. The troupe is incredibly talented and they really roll...More

I have been to multiple improv theatres and there were parts that were funny and parts that were just "meh." Because there is a lot of audience participation, it was my impression that one guy in the back dominated all the suggestions, which made me...More

I didn't laugh historically. I was kinda force-laughing so my friends would think I was having a good time. The jokes they made often made fun of others, but in a judgmental way. Like "I'm laughing at you, not WITH you." I wouldn't go back,...More

GO-GO-GO. Do not hesitate for one minute. Don't let the fact that it is so unbelievably cheap make you think it must not be good & they gotta give it away. We went to the "Laugh for a Lincoln" show because we were just looking...More

Very intimate theatre surrounding small stage on 3 sides. Good sight lines. Comfortable seats, reclining in the center section. Beer and wine for sale and can be taken into the theatre. Fun place well frequented by locals.

This show was funny, raunchy, irreverent and loads of laughs. We enjoyed it so much we purchased Kate and Maries CDs. Basically it was toilet and relationship humor done musically. What sold on it before I even bought tickets was the shows description: It's Tenacious...More

Sorry I missed your question for 5 days. Rose, you might want to ask the Theatre 99 Venue or the management at your Seaside Inn. Uber could be an option.

Hi there - 17 year olds are welcome. We have teenagers at our shows regularly, but we do like to leave it up to the parents as to whether or not it appropriate for their kids. Because our shows are unscripted, we never know... More
