Fun and delicious

John, our tour guide, was top notch! Very knowledgeable about historic downtown charleston.
Matt and Kyle, our chefs, are absolutely amazing! They take the ingredients each one of the group members pick out and make a delicious course for everyone! Everything was delicious. 100% worth doing.

Great experience. Our guide provided many interesting details on the history of the food and we loved the low county focus on the tastings which were plentiful! The stops were close to each other which was appreciated on a rainy Charleston morning.
Highly recommend!

We had an incredible time visiting 3 restaurants (including one in an old church) with excellent food and finished with a wonderful desert stop to end our adventure. Our guide Simon was extremely well versed on the local cuisine as well as historical knowledge that really enhanced our experience. Well worth every penny - and could have / should have been charged more for the experience we gained. Highly recommended!!

Simon, our guide to Food Heaven, was a thoroughly knowledgeable, very friendly person who led us through the intricacies of the Charleston food scene with history, wit and charm. The tasting menus chosen were perfect to showcase the variety of food styles available, and the portions were of an ideal size. We would definitely recommend this tour as a Tasty Taster to Charleston cuisine.

Excellent food tour of Charleston with tour guide Miss Alice Gordon. She was so knowledgeable about history and food. We really enjoyed her ability to share stories and history. We started out at the office and had a special cracker, and then on to have pulled pork and corn bread and collards. Then she crab soup, hush puppies, pimiento cheese and shrimp and grits. Then on to have fried chicken and burger and then a slice of coconut cake.

A food expenses

Mimi was very knowledgeable and the tour included so much information about so many different southern things - architecture, history, culture and cuisine. This was a food experience. Matt and Kyle created some amazing dishes with the fresh ingredients we selected. Absolutely delicious!!!

The only negative thing I can say is I wish we had known where to park before the meet up!

Viator limits how much control we have over the information we can provide to our guests. Not just a food tour! Our guide, Summer, was fantastic. She spent a lot of time on the history of Charleston and so much more. She was just great, best part of the tour. Your not eating a lot of food b/c there are 4 stops…bbq, seafood, burger, desert.

Must-do in Charleston!

My mom and I did the Sunday afternoon 3pm tour with John, and it was wonderful!! John is super knowledgeable and friendly. He even spent extra time with us at the end walking us around a few historical sites. The food was DELICIOUS, not too much and not too little. I would highly recommend this tour!!

As long as we are made aware of dietary restrictions at least 24 hours in advance we can accommodate most requests (due to the nature of Lowcountry cuisine we cannot accommodate vegan, dairy-free, or soy-free diets). We can definitely accommodate a gluten-free diet on all of our tours (except the Chef's Kitchen Tour).

How much walking is involved? Approximately how long a walk is it in between each stop? How many stops?

Hello It depends on the tour but our longest route is just over a mile while our shortest is only a few blocks. The longest distance between any two stops is 6 blocks. Most tours have 4 stops total. Three entree stops and a dessert stop. Thanks Charleston Culinary Tours

Hello. Unfortunately because of space restrictions everyone on the tour must purchase a ticket unless they are small enough to be in a stroller. That being said we usually don't recommend children under 8 go on the tour simply because it is a walking tour with some history and in general children do not enjoy themselves. Hello You can defiantly bring your 5 month old along in a stroller no problem! We can accommodate most diets, a vegetarian/no pork diet is very easily doable. Be sure to specify your restriction when you are checking out. Thanks Guy

We went on a tour that started with HoM and ended at Sugar bakery. Unfortunately I can't remember the names of the other restaurants. We also got a tour of the Old Jewish cemetery....so touching Can you help with names of the other restaurants??

We'll be staying at the Crowne Plaza and I'd like to know what's the distance between the two?

Thanks for your question. Unless there is another Crowne Plaza in Charleston, I believe the address is 4831 Tanger Outlet Blvd. That's in North Charleston, which is about a 20 minute drive (10 miles) from Charleston's Historic District. All of our tours start in the Historic District (in different places, depending on the tour), so it's about a 20 minute drive from the starting point of any of our tours. If the hotel offers a shuttle, I'd recommend taking that in order to get to the Historic District as parking can be difficult at times. Hope this information helps!
