We just saw the Regina Carter Quintet which is part of this year’s Charleston Jazz Festival (the 6th) at an excellent venue for this very talented jazz violinist and her equally talented pianist, drummer, bassist and vocalist. Our seats in the center of row 6 in section A were perfect. Parking in the adjacent hotel lot makes it so convenient to attend an event at this first class venue.

Charleston Music Hall is one of my favorite event and performance venues in the Charleston area. The hall is the perfect size as not matter where you sit or stand you are going to get a good view. I have also had a chance to be on stage for an event and it was a really cool experience. This place is well managed and organized and everything runs smoothly even with sold out events that are packed out. I like the drink and bar areas available and it really adds to the venue. Each event I have attended here has been memorable and enjoyable.

I go to a lot of concerts, like at least one or two a month but surprisingly had never been to the Charleston Music Hall. My seats were in Row 7 1&2 and the view of the stage was awesome. It's a small venue so I think wherever you sat, you'd have a good view. We were seeing St. Paul and the broken bones and as always, they put on a great show. My only recommendation to the venue would be to slow the booze sales a bit. I saw women with an entire bottle of wine at their seat and some of them were WASTED. I mean, it is up to the individual to control themselves but selling an entire bottle to one person seems a little much.

Hi Heidi,
Thank you for your review! We're glad to hear you enjoyed the show, St. Paul & The Broken Bones are one of our favorites!
We appreciate the feedback about the bottles of wine. Bottles are meant to be shared between a group, but we hear you that sometimes people abuse this. All of our bartenders are TIPS certified and do cut people off if they are visibly wasted. We will definitely relay this review to our Bar Manager because we are constantly changing and evolving to better serve our patrons.
All the best,
Bonny & The CMH Team

In the last year or so, my wife and I have heard the Indigo Girls and Bruce Hornsby. This is a perfect place for music. I don't think there is a bad seat in the whole place. It reminds me of a larger concert hall, and they took away all the distant, far-away, and obstructed view seats, leaving only relatively close up seats with direct line of sight and sound. And the wine prices are reasonable too! We love this place.

Went to Tesla concert while in Charleston. The band sounded awesome. Loved the venue. Our seats were upstairs in balcony area. The staff were friendly and helpful. Parking garage next door was convenient and cost $5 for this event. They sell beer and wine at reasonable prices. I live almost 6 hours away but would return to this venue for another concert.

After 2 years of rescheduling due to covid, finally able to attend the Kenny Wayne Shepherd concert. Very efficient procedures to get covid check, security check, and entry. Very friendly staff and an excellent concert. Kenny Wayne was incredible and special guest Ally Venable was amazing. Just a great experience.

First time at this Venue! Front row was great, except they added
Pit Seats in front of me after I bought tickets when they 1st went on sale, NOT KOOL, OR FAIR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The wine was $7.00 & $9.00 per glass I'm sure they paid $3-$4
A bottle! Nasty!!! The tickets were $30 for any seat, very reasonable! But $8.00's for print at home service change?????
Rediculous!!!!!!! Parking garage close by $5.00 not too bad.
I liked the small venue under 700 seats. Stadium style, and upper balcony so good view! Clean bathrooms but only a few stalls Not convenient long lines!!! Should be a code requiring the proper amount!!!! The security at the front door was probably More for curtailing the bringing in of you own decent booze as opposed to searching for metal with their detectors!

Agree with Shar1965 that the Motown Christmas Show was awesome. We had no clue about CMH's existence in spite of our trips to Charleston but discovered it on one of our walks. We figured we could grab tickets at the door. NOT! The Show was sold out save for one remaining ticket. The Box Office staff said they could sell us that ticket and place a nice folding chair next to that seat insofar as the handicapped space was not spoken for. The seats were great and the show wonderful. Our advice would be to make sure you buy tix in advance as CMH appears to be very popular with locals, especially at the Holidays. Although we walked from our hotel, we noticed there was not a lot of parking nearby, certainly not on the street. We did see some people walking to what appeared to be a parking lot. (P.S. Adult beverages are served.)

This was our first visit at this venue. The Motown Christmas Show was fabulous! As many others have said, there is no bad seat. It was such a wonderful experience and we plan to return as often as possible. Staff was very helpful and gracious.

what kind of seating is available? Is it first come first serve?

Anytime that we have seen a performance there, we have had reserved seats but there may be some performances that only have general admission which would then be first come first serve.

Hi, I would like to know if I would be able to see the stage in Section F and J?
I see it's stated as "limited view" could you explain this more for section F & J seats 1 through 6
Bonny W
Charleston, SC3 contributions
Hello,
Yes, of course. Those seats say limited view because they are located on the sides of the theater, therefor if there is any stage design you may not be able to see the whole thing. That being said, that are still great seats and are the closet you can get to the stage from the balcony. I personally really like those seats.
Hope this helped! Please let us know if you have any further questions.
Best,
Bonny & the Charleston Music Hall Team
Are there any nice hotels within walking distance?

Hello,
Yes! We are located right next to a Hampton Inn and it is very nice. There is also an Embassy Suites around the corner that is lovely as well.

Bonny & the Charleston Music Hall Team
Thanks Bonny! Ended up getting 2 seats in row 1 of G for Jason Isbell in October, very excited.
What are the most ideal choices of seats between the back rows on the floor and the back middle row on the balcony?
Bonny W
Charleston, SC3 contributions
Hi Jack,
That's really up to your personal preference of what angle you would like to see the show from. We are a small theater so there really is not a bad seat in the house. I personally would prefer the back middle row on the balcony.
Hope this was helpfully!

Bonny & the Charleston Music Hall Team

which end of balcony rows are seats accessed from?
B J
Charleston, SC3 contributions
Access to H Section is on the right or left side just like in a movie theater. The same goes for the first two rows of G and I and the one row in Section F and J. The 3rd row of G and I is only accessible from the aisle next to the H section but it is only about 5 chairs deep.
