Enchanting historic Charleston comes alive on entertaining and informative...

Enchanting historic Charleston comes alive on entertaining and informative walking tours with 7th-generation Charleston native Michael Trouche. Discover stunning architecture, glorious gardens, Civil and Revolutionary War sites, cobblestone streets, wrought iron gates, legendary graveyards, and the local flavor of the fabled “Holy City” that no one knows better than Michael, who grew up in the famous "South of Broad" area, and has written two popular books on Charleston, where his family has lived for more than 215 years. Michael won numerous prestigious awards as host of the acclaimed "Carolina Camera" television program for 20 years on the local Charleston CBS affiliate, and has charmed tour guests for 10 years with his unparalleled knowledge of South Carolina's history, culture, plants and animals, as well as colorful insights, locations and anecdotes that only a lifelong Charleston native would truly know.

One thing becomes immediately clear when Michael starts talking about downtown Charleston--he's intimately familiar with it in the way only someone who and whose parents and grandparents and greatgrandparents and generations more can be. Two hours. Efficiently paced. Loads of history. Loads of anecdotes. It's just the right length. Michael is very personable. He has a great delivery. One word... More

Our Holy City tour was wonderful. Michael does an amazing job of telling you the history of the place, while at the same time incorporating humor and engaging stories into the mix. There is never a dull moment. I would recommend this walking tour for when you are in Charleston. Please note to show up a little early. If you... More

Michael is astonishingly knowledgeable about the history of Charleston, its citizens, and its wondrous architecture. His two hour tour flew by, propelled by his wit and warmth. He showed us what we needed to know so that as we continued our visit, our understanding of what we were viewing was increased exponentially. Take this tour the first chance you get... More

A group of friends traveled to Charleston for a reunion of sorts. We were looking for a tour of historic Charleston and found Michael. What a terrific tour guide! Knowledgeable, entertaining and kept out attention even in the 108 degree heat index. Lots of beautiful houses, churches and certainly a lot of facts about the area. Would do again in... More

Michael Trouche was amazing! As a true Charlestonian, he was able to share stories and facts about the city that you don't learn from a book. He provided insights on the architecture, the people, the plants, the culture, etc. It was a super-hot day and Michael made it a point to find areas of shade on our two hour tour.... More

Do this! You won't regret it. Michael made this incredibly interesting with his first-hand knowledge and experience of growing up in Charleston. Even though it rained on us, it was still the best part of our 3 days in Charleston. Michael gave us a little more time than the allotted 2 hours to make up for the rain delay. I've... More

Michael was welcoming, hospitable, entertaining, and knowledgeable. He kept us in the shade in 99 degree heat and took us on a two hour walking tour... definitely worth the investment.

So glad we did this! Worth every penny! I highly recommend touring with Michael, even in this horrible heat. I see Charleston completely differently now.

This was a 2 hour walking tour. We started at 10:00 a.m. and it was hot already. Be sure to bring water! Our guide was very informative and the history and architecture were interesting. Beautiful city and a nice way to learn the history.

Michael created a very entertaining, yet informative tour of historical Charleston. It was an excellent introduction to the history that seems to permeate everywhere there. He also added personal anecdotes of what it was like to grow up in his old neighborhood and how it has changed through the years. If only Michael could have controlled the weather! Although Michael... More
