Enchanting historic Charleston comes alive on entertaining and informative...

Enchanting historic Charleston comes alive on entertaining and informative walking tours with 7th-generation Charleston native Michael Trouche. Discover stunning architecture, glorious gardens, Civil and Revolutionary War sites, cobblestone streets, wrought iron gates, legendary graveyards, and the local flavor of the fabled “Holy City” that no one knows better than Michael, who grew up in the famous "South of Broad" area, and has written two popular books on Charleston, where his family has lived for more than 215 years. Michael won numerous prestigious awards as host of the acclaimed "Carolina Camera" television program for 20 years on the local Charleston CBS affiliate, and has charmed tour guests for 10 years with his unparalleled knowledge of South Carolina's history, culture, plants and animals, as well as colorful insights, locations and anecdotes that only a lifelong Charleston native would truly know.

My wife and I went on Michael's tour yesterday and loved it. Michael leads the tour with great enthusiasm and energy. He is so knowledgeable about the history of Charleston and clearly loves this city. We were never bored and were surprised at how fast the two or so hours went by. Michael easy to engage with, open to questions... More

Michael is very well informed since he is a 7th generation Charlestonian and this becomes very clear during the 2 hour tour. He has deep knowledge of the architecture of the homes, churches and neighborhoods, and shares many good stories and anecdotes from Charleston's history and Michael's own personal history of growing up and still living there. We had our... More

Michael's knowledge on his hometown of Charleston is fantastic, and the way he speaks and presents the tour is with such passion and zest, that it's infectious! I felt that I learnt a lot, and found the stories and history of the town very interesting. It's quite fast paced, and the two hours goes very quickly, but it does give... More

I've lived in SC for several years now and I've visited Charleston many times. This was my first tour of Charleston and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I learned so much that I can share with others on future trips. I'll definitely be sending future visitors on tour with Michael. The 2 hour tour was so informative. The walking was at... More

Based on the TripAdvisor reviews we booked this tour and it was beyond wonderful. Everything stated in the reviews is true, and Michael was an excellent guide. Michael's deep knowledge and personal stories made this so much more than a run of the mill tour. And Michael goes above and beyond by learning the names of those on the tour... More

Absolutely great! Very informative and entertaining! I highly recommend to do a tour with Michael even if it's not your first visit in Charleston (as it was in my case).

My family and I are in Charleston for Thanksgiving and wanted to do a walking tour. After looking through many reviews, we settled on Charleston Footprints. We just concluded the tour, and needless to say we made a great choice. Michael was not only informative but also engaging and humorous. Definitely recommend.

My husband and I took Michael's walking tour last week, and found our time with him thoroughly enjoyable, entertaining, and informative. He masterfully blends facts, history and architecture with anecdotes and stories, and the time flew by. As many have noted, within the first ten minutes, he knows everyone's name and city from which they were visiting. But what was... More
