About
Check out our one-of-a-kind Original Pub & Brewery Tours of Charleston! Based upon similar beer tours in Europe, we have been featured in the Atlanta Journal Constitution and the Wall Street Journal. The Pub Tour is a fun and unique tour, which includes visits to many historic pubs (some with rooftop views of the city), old taverns frequented by pirates, breweries haunted by ghosts, and a large dose of Charleston's history. Our exclusive Brewery Tours highlight Charleston's local craft beer scene and are a great way to sample a variety of local brews while hearing the fascinating story behind Charleston beer, with a behind-the-scenes glimpse of several local breweries. The Original Pub & Brewery Tours are definitely the most exciting way to experience the city and everything LOCAL! We often sell out quickly so we recommend making reservations in advance. We accommodate groups of all sizes and will customize any group/event tours to your specific needs. Cheers!

This was a really fun tour. It starts at an Irish Pub where you get to know the other pub crawlers and share an appetizer then you are off for some good stories and a few more drinks before ending at a beautiful roof top where you enjoy another appetizer. The weather was perfect, the drinks were cold, the stories were interesting and our tour guide was fun!!

We took a quick trip for two nights down to Charleston for some R&R and decided to do something fun, WHY NOT!
Looking at tours and not wanting to smell horse crap for an hour on a Carriage Tour, the Pub tour sounded like the best option. Bought the tickets two hours before the tour on my laptop and away we went. Met at Tommy Condon's and enjoyed some nice Irish Nachos and a Black & Tan while listening to the most awesome tour guide!
Dan has more historical knowledge about South Carolina and Charleston that most anyone I know, he should be on Jeopardy! We had a small group max of 6 due to COVID and the other two couples from Athens GA were a delight to pair up with. The pubs were great as well as the conversation. I would like to come back and take the kids because of the history lesson as well as the tales of the pirates! #BlackBeard

This was such a fun tour! Daniel was an excellent tour guide; he is clearly well versed in the history of Charleston and has a great rapport with the pubs you visit on the tour. He was also incredibly kind to us during a hectic time when he had some family emergencies come up. He had to reschedule a couple times and although it was completely unnecessary, he refunded our money and STILL took us on a tour! We had a great time learning about Charleston and visiting some really cool pubs with excellent drink selections.

We felt it was overpriced for what it was. We were thrown off initially because we expected it to be more of an event and it was just our group of four that felt quite silly decked out in ugly sweaters on the annual holiday tour. Dan was very kind and knowledgeable. We got the Irish nachos (which were incredible) at the first pub and French fries at the second. We were a bit disappointed by the lack of appetizers provided. French fries. Really? I would strongly recommend just researching local favorites and save the $35 per person.

This tour was recommended by friends that had visited Charleston pre-COVID as they enjoyed learning about the local beers and bars. Our experience was opposite, the tour guide was nice but showed up a bit disheveled and disorganized. He seemed like a local that was hired by the bars to bring in customers.
There were 6 people in total on the tour and we all just started talking amongst ourselves as the stories the Tour Guide told were more about revolutionary history and not the advertised Pubs . We visited 5 bars and provided food at 2, the first bar provided a small helping of Irish nachos that were barley editable and the last bar gave us fried store bought mozzarella sticks (really awful). We left early from the tour as it was a huge disappointment.
Overall I would not recommend this tour as spent $90 plus the costs of all of our drinks. It was the first day of our vacation and it was really a waste of time and left us with a negative impression.

It is not what we expected and I don't know if that is because we missed something or it wasn't explained well on the website or over the phone. We were told that snacks would be provided throughout the tour but alcohol is something that we had to get ourselves. We were totally okay with that and we were really looking forward to sampling different foods at each restaurant so we didn't eat beforehand so we could enjoy what each place was providing for snacks/apps. Food is one of the best things about Charleston so we were all really looking forward to it. We were only given one plate of a small app to split between 5 people so everyone just got one bite and that was the only snack/app we were provided... and that was at the first restaurant that we visited. The other places we visited, we were just conversing with Daniel/each other. We also were told that we would be going to 4 locations and we made it to 3.
I don't want to take away from the fact that Daniel, our guide, was great and made it fun, he was funny, and we learned some cool stuff! We were on a bachelorette trip, and on the tour, we were joined by another Bachelorette party. He did a great job giving everyone attention and answering questions; He even helped book our group dinner reservations later that night at a great place that he suggested. However the 3rd and final place was a very very small rooftop bar that was already full so we were constantly trying to just move out of the way since the whole group between both Bachelorette parties equated to about 14 of us. That is basically where the tour ended since no one could really stand to hear anymore about Charleston or really talk to each other. I think maybe having another option of somewhere to go based on the size of the group would be helpful so we don't feel in the way, especially for a Saturday night.
I think it would have been better if there would have been snacks/apps provided and timed out upon our arrival at each place. I know making the food takes a long time so it being ready upon our arrival and organizing times would have made it so that we could have made it to all 4 locations like we were told. Or made it clear that if we wanted to order food, we could have and it would have been taken care of by the host or restaurant with the money that we already paid to do the tour.

This was not really a tour. It was a guy who walked us to a 3 bars and casually mentioned a few random facts about Charleston with no cohesion.
I could have got the same experience reading Wikipedia for 5 mins. This is certainly not worth $40/person + cost of beers at all the bars. I am not sure I would do it for free.

Started the Charleston Pub Tour at Tommy Condons, then on to Big John's, Bumpas, The Griffon & The Blind Tiger, all narrated with a little pirate, revolution & civil war stories centered around Charles Town to entertain. Great local beers and a couple of killer Old Fashioneds.
Thank you, Daniel L, for being such a fine and entertaining host.

We had a great time with Dan on our tour. He is very knowledgeable and had some fun facts to share. The pubs he brought us to were fun and different. The only thing I would mention is I thought it was a little over priced for what was included. We paid $35 plus tax and plus a tip per person just for the walking tour. We had to buy all of our own drinks at every bar. I didn't expect to have a free drink everywhere but at least one. I also got the impression that we would have some complimentary appetizers from each pub we went to . We only had appetizer from the first pub. Overall it was fun and I would recommend it.

My fiance and I went on the Original Pub Tour of Charleston, and it was one of the best times we had while spending a weekend in downtown. Daniel the IV was a great tour guide and very informative. He was able to answer all of our questions and told amazing historic stories about the city. The beer and cocktails on the tour were also really good.

I don't see where we can sign up for one of your tours on TripAdvisor? Is there a certain season that you run these tours? Thank you..
