Overview
A walking tour of Charleston is especially pleasant when done in a small group of just 15 people or fewer. Avoid overcrowded sidewalks and photo ops as you follow your guide through the historic French Quarter, past the mansions of Broad Street, and down to the Charleston Battery. As you walk, your guide regales you with tales of Charleston's fascinating history, which is all too easy to miss if you forgo a guide.

Our group thoroughly enjoyed our tour. Our guide Al was extremely knowledgeable and did a good job covering a wide variety of topics including architecture, economy, politics and history. He also clearly enjoys his job and kept things light and humorous. Would definitely recommend.

We really enjoyed walking through Charleston’s French Quarter as Eric explained the nuances of its rich, multilayered history: Amazing architecture - pre/post Revolutionary and Civil War eras, devastating fires, earthquakes, hurricanes, social/economic upheaval, scallawags and pirates! Great way to spend the afternoon. Highly recommend!

Could not design a better guide than Eric Lager. Great enthusiasm and sense of humor on top of a PhD in history. Remarkable depth of knowledge. So many high points from which to choose. Loved the account of the burials of John C. Calhoun and his wife. Fun learning of Calhoun's connection to Clemson. Well worth the time and $. Next time, I'll come with lots of questions. The Old Walled City folks beat the stuffing out of bigger Charleston tour operators. Note to Tripadvisor: Quit flogging the Covid drum. Masks and sanitizing "high traffic areas" accomplish nothing and detract from the reviewing experience. Get a life, already!
