The guide was under the influence, evidenced by his breath and balance. The guide may have been well-read on the stories, but he couldn't tell a story to save his life. He followed another group of another agency, and we noticed how good that other guide was.

Otherwise lacking in articulation, this reviewer needs to double-check the actual company he went with. We only conducted tours for the month of December on 12/2, 12/17, and 12/27-30 (so a total of 6 nights for the entire month as it is the off-season) and they were ALL WITH A FEMALE TOUR GUIDE, SUSAN (10+ years experience). No male tour... More

Really not into ghosts, but this is a fun family activity for an evening. Our guide was a Charleston native and a history buff, and so we learned a lot about Charleston in general. The stories were fun, not scary (no one jumping out at you). What other activity is going to take you into alleys, old graveyards and hotel... More

We are in our last night in Charleston. We have an early check out and the start of a long drive home. We booked late afternoon for a 8pm tour at one of those curb side stands at a discount rate. We thought we are good to go! They called us 90 minutes later to bump us to the 10pm... More

The tour was really interesting and I thought Austin did a great job! He even stayed with my group for 15-20 minutes afterwards to answer any additional questions and just talk. I would highly recommend going on one of these tours if you're interested in history and/or ghosts. It was definitely one of the more memorable experiences from my time... More

I have taken several ghost tours over the years when visiting Charleston. They all have somewhat of a different spin on where they take you on the tour and what stories they tell. Our first tour was scheduled with Austin. The group that was scheduled for this tour had several small children in it. This made the tour a little... More

My first encounter with Charleston Ghost Tours was a bit challenging due to a varied age group, but Austin did a great job making the experience worthwhile for everyone. The manager called me the next day during my weekend visit to Charleston, and offered another adventure. It was again a worthwhile time. Roy has a gift of presentation and a... More

We enjoyed our Ghost Tour through Charleston on Tuesday. We have been to Charleston before and always wanted to go on one. I was hoping for a little history mixed with ghost stories and I feel we got that. We brought our kids and the guide did a good job of not making it too scary for them. We hope... More

Booked this tour with high hopes of hearing some spooky ghost stories from Charleston's rich history. Instead our guide smelled very strongly of alcohol and tried to be more of a comedian (not funny) than a story teller. His phone was dead the whole time and he kept asking people in the group to borrow theirs. I feel bad leaving... More

Thank you for the feedback regarding your tour with our company. I spoke with your guide, and he did admit to accepting one drink from a group of guests on the tour immediately preceding yours as a form of gratuity. This is not standard practice, and the guide has been reminded to politely refuse any tokens of appreciation in the... More
