Don’t Be Fooled By the Brochure, no photographic evidence, just stories that aren’t really that good. I was really hoping this was going to be a winner. Especially since they list the guides - including their experience and education - on the brochure. Our guide, Roy, was very knowledgeable and no doubt would be a great person to chat about history with. However, his story telling needs work and his soft voice was hard to hear at times. Apparently, there is an ordinance against seeing actual haunted places, so the tour is basically you standing in random parking lots or alleys listening to the guide explain how you are probably standing on thousands of bones from the past. The focus of the tours now seem to be the role that slavery played in the south and how mean pirates were. However, there were no stories of slave ghosts or mean plantation owners condemned to walk the earth…With hundreds of years of history, including major events of the revolutionary and civil wars, the best you can do are pirates and highwaymen? We heard about all of the hauntings in the old jail…didn’t even walk past the old jail. Heard about the haunted tidal basin…didn’t walk near it. The ONLY time we actually stood in front of a haunted place was the end at Poogin’s Porch - yes the dog named, “Poogin” haunts the place. There also must be a connection between the tour and the local eateries. We met in front of a pub and ended in front of three of the best restaurants in Charleston. It all seemed a little too convenient. I felt like I paid to be in a restaurant commercial. All in all, a wasted night and $50. I chose this over attending the Dierks Bentley concert the same night for the same price… Oh, and if you bring children keep them on a tight leash. Our tour was dominated by kids who seemed to enjoy out doing one another for the title of who can be most annoying… You would be better off googling “Ghost of Charleston” and creating your own tour.

Roy was great! He is a great storyteller. We really enjoyed it. Roy deserves 5 starts. The downsides are that we were not able to go to many of the sites or see "photographic evidence". My girlfriend got several mosquito bites because we had to stand in the alleyways.

I get it.... at least, I get it now. Due to local regulations when you go on a ghost tour in Charleston you will NOT get to see any real haunted sites - you only get to hear about them through a story and pointed in a general direction where this place is. We were not told about this in advance so the expectations were elevated in the beginning. After listening to the first ghost story in an alley for over 10 minutes being eaten alive by mosquitos we were told that the haunted home was several blocks away and we moved on to a parking lot where we heard the next story, and so on. The brochure also mentions that you will get to see photographic evidence - Nope! Be sure to use mosquito spray if you want to listen to Roy tell a story. This was the first ghost tour I've ever been on, and thankfully reading through the other reviews it seems like other towns will actually visit the sites. After about the 4th story and legs burning with mosquito bites we decided to have a drink instead. Glad we did since the kitchen in the bar was closing in 10 minutes. Roy seems like a nice enough guy, but just like my little brother having a history degree doesn't make you an expert in everything

I had friends visiting from out of state, and we spent a few days in Charleston. It was a packed few days of sightseeing, but this tour really stood out as one of our absolute favorite experiences. Our tour guide Roy was awesome--his delivery was perfect and he was such a great storyteller. Along with some fascinating ghost stories, he gave us a lot of general history about the city. We hung onto his every word, and the 90 minutes flew by!
