While visiting one of our Navy sons, we found an hour or two to see the Citadel. I was looking for the castle with the chess board inner court. I think there are a dozen. Friendly staff. Parking was limited but not impossible. A friend's...More

We recently visited The Citadel during a college visit day with our son who is considering it. EVERYONE was awesome. So much rich history and tradition in such a relatively small spot! This is a must see while in Charleston! And visit on Friday afternoon...More

Charleston is home to this military college. You can stroll the grounds and perhaps take in parade day.

We just walked through the campus. It was so interesting to see the old buildings and the military influence of the campus. Freshmen have to walk in the street, not the sidewalks. It was worth the extra effort to go on campus. We went inside...More

History, History , History. A great place to visit and drive thru. Park and sit on a bench and watch the great activities around you.

A great place to be patriotic! There is a parade of the troops every Friday right in the commons. Cute bookstore with all things Citadel! Worth a look into the chapel too next door.

The campus is interesting, but I found the look a little disappointing. All of the building look like a medieval times restaurant, and it all looks just a bit kitschy.

If you've been to many college campuses you will find this one very different than any you've visited before. If you time your visit right you can see the cadets marching or practicing on the central field. This is a very small campus with about...More

Yes, you can walk around and walk into some of the buildings. There are no reservations required. The parades are only on Fridays during the school year and are typically at 3:30pm.
