There is a wonderful Holocaust Memorial and a monument to former U.S. Senator and Vice President, John C. Calhoun on one side of the park, plenty of open space, generous shade trees and benches. We were there the week Pokemon Go was released, and the park was full of Pokemon hunters. There is a fabulous market on Saturdays from 9... More

Did a walking tour of the historic area and ended up here. Seemed very safe and lots of folks milling around. KIds were playing in the fountain on a very hot evening.

I always love to walk through Marion Sq. From the vagrant's to the college kids to us old folks. Quite a mixture. People walking through with their noses down in their phones is quite comical. You wonder how they get around and socialize.

It's a pretty park in the city. Big statue of Calhoun in the middle, fountain on one corner, and the original Citadel military academy in the back. When we went there was nothing going on but I'm sure there's all kinds of activities available here.

We happened upon the Marion Square Farmers' Market which only happens on Saturdays April through November, but what a find! Beautiful fruits and vegetables, food trucks serving tasty breakfast and lunch items and live entertainment. We ended up staying three hours and enjoying every minute. Great people watching.

The farmers market on Saturdays is a lot of fun. There are break dancers, fresh fruits and vegetables, local artists, and food vendors. I love the crepe stand, you can get a made to order crepe with Nutella and fresh strawberries.

The city of Charleston needs to do a better job of policing the homeless and panhandlers. The park itself was nice, but people sleeping on benches in the middle of the day was a bit much.

Went to Marion Square after lunch a few blocks away. Guess I'm spoiled since I live in Center CIty Philadelphia and our equivalent park (Rittenhouse Square) is a sea of colorful flowers, fountains, sculptures, and magnificent trees, with benches everywhere and other seating on the garden walls and edges of the fountains. Marion Square is very large and flat, with... More

My husband and I were lucky enough to be staying next door @ the Embassy Suites/Citadel Our first week during Spoleto Festival was marvelous due to the Art Fair on the grounds and then on Saturday we experienced the Farmers'Market So delightful!!

The setting for the Saturday market is great! During Spoleto there's the art show during the entire run of Spoleto. Alas, the market is only Saturdays but you can find food items to eat there, beautiful veggies galore, crafts, etc.
