- SvensotaWilmette, Illinois279 contributionsLucky students!Park your car in the Phillips Street Garage and take a walk around the C of C campus. It's beyond charming. I'd almost go back to college just to walk around this place every day. What lucky students! And, stop by the The Halsey Contemporary Art Museum while you're there. Some mind-bending stuff is on display.Visited February 2020Written February 21, 2020
- anacondapyHemingway, South Carolina128 contributionsOne beautiful campus!A wonderfully historic campus. Plenty of attractions and restaurants nearby. It is one of the most beautiful city campuses in USA. My son is scheduled to start here in August, 2020. The school started back in the 1700s. It was the first municipal college in America.Visited November 2019Written March 9, 2020

- Swampwoman53 contributionsOld oaks, colonial buildings, young college studentsConfession: I am an alumna of the College of Charleston and a former instructor there. I love the place of course, but I still can recommend it to visitors. If you do nothing else stroll through the campus while you are taking in downtown Charleston. Cistern Yard is a quiet shady haven in the middle of Charleston's busy buzz. If you show up when classes are changing, just sit on a bench and wait for the college student chaos to subside (which it will shortly) before resuming your leisurely walk.Visited June 2014Traveled with friendsWritten November 20, 2014

We visited the grounds of the College of Charleston as part of a city tour we booked that takes you around the city and gives a great overview of downtown Charleston in about 1.5 hours. The campus is called one of the most beautiful in the U.S., and it lives up to the accolades. Really extraordinary for an urban campus! Exqusite gardens, parks with an abundance of lacy Spanish Moss and beautifully restored homes line the streets, and many of the college buildings are wonderful architectural masterpieces. Did not have the opportunity to go inside any of the campus buildings, but will definitely plan for that on the next trip. The college borders the serious new foodie territory on King St, boasting some old favorite dining establishments mingling with new chef-owned restuarants and innovative, experimental cuisine venues.

I hope to visit the campus soon. Is public parking easily available on campus, or do you park nearby in the city and walk? Thanks in advance!

There is metered street parking around the campus and a number of parking garages. Parking is not usually a problem.
