My husband and I, along with my father-in-law, had a day to do a little sight-seeing while visiting in the Charleston area, so we decided to do the harbor tour. This was a win, win for all of us! You couldn't beat the price for...More

I hosted a group of former colleagues and their spouses from my prior employment for a three day event in Charleston this past week. Clearly, one of the highlights of our time was a 1.5 hour harbor cruise aboard The Carolina Belle. There were 22...More

We enjoyed the history and humor of Capt. Tripp. Would definitely recommend. Even with the warning, the horn scared me to death. The echo effect was really cool.

We enjoyed the tour and the history lesson from our captain. She was funny and entertaining. 1.5 hours gone pretty fast.

Capt. Andy gave an engaging yet concise history of Charleston from the water perspective while adroitly navigating the harbor to avoid big boats and small. Well done!

Sorry for the delay, there are actually 3 restrooms on the top deck only. The boat boards on the top deck if you have any mobility issues. 1 head on the port side, which is ADA accessible and two on the starboard side... More

Tour recommendations.... (6 Replies)
My husband & I will be in Charleston for a few days next week. I received lots of valuable help here in planning my itinerary. Thank you. I have a couple more questions. I am considering a Thursday night Blues & BBQ tour with Charleston Harbor Tours. Quite pricey (IMO) at $45 pp without any drinks for a 2-hr cruise but it does include a BBQ buffet and live Blues so I guess it's not too bad. I found reviews for the tour company itself but none specifically about this Blues cruise. Does...More

The Blues and BBQ tour used to be catered by Fiery Ron's, but I heard an ad on the radio that it's now Swig and Swine catering, which is excellent but I can't say I have tried it on the cruise. It's a nice time, and you have dinner, entertainment, and see some sights from the water. Yes, there are discounts available, try stopping in the official visitor center at Meeting St. I believe. Also, there is an historic society you could join and get discounted house tours, but the name and...More

One Day Trip Report 8/26/08 Attack of the Killer Mosquitos (7 Replies)
Our trip started out at 5:30 am from Myrtle Beach, (a one day diversion from our eight-day trip there) this by no means an easy feat to get two children and significant other ready to go on time after being exhausted by the fabulous pools at our hotel. I was determined, schedule and itinerary and coffee mugs in hand. We were supposed to reach Mills House around 7:30-7:45 am in time to park to car early bird in it's adjacent garage. Thanks to a lead from a fellow tripper who thought it to...More

Sorry you had the problem with the mosquitos. Strangely enough, we have had very FEW mosquitos this year until last week and they were very bad! We were at a cook-out and everyone was spraying and eventually went indoors. Skin-So-Soft or repellant sprays are usually taken to outdoor events in case they come out. Drier sheets will keep some away, but not all. The county/city spray throughout the year at night. The drive to the plantations is beautiful. The canopied road reminds me of a...More

30 hour visit, Trip Report (1 Replies)
I recently planned a short trip to Charleston using trip advisor and wanted to share our experiences. We drove from the Myrtle Beach Airport in apx 2 hours. We stopped at the vistor center and purchased a combo pass ($31.00)for a tour of the harbor with Charleston Harbor Tours and a Carriage tour with Olde Towne Carriage Company. We checked in to our room at the Elliot Street Inn, (see review) parked the car(lot near intersection of King and Queen for $16.00 for 24 hours) and set off on...More
