There's no better way to see historic Charleston than from the vantage point of an Old South Carriage. Family owned and operated since 1983, Old South Carriage Company offers fully narrated hour-long tours by licensed guides wearing the Confederate uniform with the Red Sash. Come to our English-style stable at 14 Anson Street, just 2 blocks from The City Market and meet our friendly and professional staff. Reservations are not necessary as tours depart every 20 - 30 minutes throughout the day. A ramp leading to a platform makes boarding easy. Old South Carriage Company uses French Percherons and Belgian Draft horses. These sturdy employees vacation at Sugah Cain, the owner's 65-acre plantation on John's Island. For 2-3 months annually, these beautiful horses are free to run in large pastures or leisurely graze under century-old live oaks.

Tours operate daily from 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 (DST) 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. (EST).

Informative

We went on a 2 pm carriage tour with Mac and "Luke". Mac was very informative and we very much enjoyed our tour. I would definitely recommend this carriage company.

We signed up for a 1 hour carriage ride thru the historic Charleston area. We had about a 20 minute wait before we could board the carriage. It was a flat $25 rate per person. Our tour guide was nice enough giving us tidbits of history as we rode. It is a gamble what tour you get because the city... More

I took 21 senior citizens to Charleston for a carriage ride tour of the historic part of the peninsula. I chose Old South because of their unique passenger loading ramp. It was perfect for all,y folks, especially the two ladies that were mobility challenged. Loading was a breeze. Most of the group had never been on a carriage ride before... More

Originally booked a group carriage ride but seeing a lot of people and talking to someone decided to do a private tour. John and Jake (the horse ) took us around and was very knowledge about the town. Would recommend this tour.

Justin was exceptional and made the tour so informative and enjoyable! He was the best at his job and you knew he loved what he did as well as the city. Ask for him by name!

We had a group of 13 and all thoroughly enjoyed the ride with our guide Josh. Itineraries vary and are assigned by the city so as not clog all the streets at once. We were assigned Tour 1.

I loved this tour! I have been coming to Charleston for many years, but I rarely take the time to enjoy the historical side of the city. I was motivated by a girl's trip with people who had never been to Charleston. We only had the day and wanted to shop and eat as well so the one hour tour... More

Since another carriage company was rude and unavailable we took a ghost tour with this company. Such a fun tour and I learned some things I had never heard. My only complaint is that it wasn't longer.

Highly recommended for a colorful, informative, historical tour of Charleston. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and happy to answer questions. This is wonderful way to see a beautiful city and learn unusual facts you might not find in a book. I will certainly do this again!
