There's no better way to see historic Charleston than from the vantage...

There's no better way to see historic Charleston than from the vantage point of an Old South Carriage. Family owned and operated since 1983, Old South Carriage Company offers fully narrated hour-long tours by licensed guides wearing the Confederate uniform with the Red Sash. Come to our English-style stable at 14 Anson Street, just 2 blocks from The City Market and meet our friendly and professional staff. Reservations are not necessary as tours depart every 20 - 30 minutes throughout the day. A ramp leading to a platform makes boarding easy. Old South Carriage Company uses French Percherons and Belgian Draft horses. These sturdy employees vacation at Sugah Cain, the owner's 65-acre plantation on John's Island. For 2-3 months annually, these beautiful horses are free to run in large pastures or leisurely graze under century-old live oaks.

Tours operate daily from 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 (DST) 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. (EST).

Perfect way to see Old Charleston

Very relaxing. Informative driver. Slow down the pace and just enjoy like Scarlett O'Hara might have!

Relaxing tour pulled by Luke and led by guide Christmas Carol who was chock full of Charleston stories. Very cheery and a lover of the city, she gave us a lovely comfortable afternoon teaching us about the history and people of the low country. Very well priced. High value.

I thoroughly enjoyed the ride. The guide was very knowledgeable about Charleston history and architecture. Absolutely a lovely experience. I recommend booking early and being the first carriage out. Our ride was peaceful and largely uninterrupted. Returning to the stables later, I saw carriage after carriage packed and lined up to leave and was glad at the time I chose.

Our guide, Ro Ro, was very pleasant and knowledgeable about Charleston, and was great about giving funny little tidbits along the way. This was our first carriage tour through Charleston, and we really enjoyed it. Will definitely use Old South Carriage Company again the next time we're in Charleston.

Wasn't expecting a lot but a nice horse drawn carriage ride with kitschy stories, but Elliot, our driver, and Bill, our horse, proved me wrong. Elliot who graduated with a history degree knows his stuff. In fact, Charleston requires all tour leaders to pass rigorous oral and written exams. Elliot is super funny and easy on the eyes ;) but... This was our first trip to Charleston and we had limited free time, so we wanted to do something where we could see and learn a lot in a short amount of time. Our tour with Old South Carriage Company was perfect! Our tour guide, Elliott, was incredibly knowledgeable without being preachy--we felt like we were hearing stories from a... More
