There's no better way to see historic Charleston than from the vantage point of an Old South Carriage. Family owned and operated since 1983, Old South Carriage Company offers fully narrated hour-long tours by licensed guides wearing the Confederate uniform with the Red Sash. Come to our English-style stable at 14 Anson Street, just 2 blocks from The City Market and meet our friendly and professional staff. Reservations are not necessary as tours depart every 20 - 30 minutes throughout the day. A ramp leading to a platform makes boarding easy. Old South Carriage Company uses French Percherons and Belgian Draft horses. These sturdy employees vacation at Sugah Cain, the owner's 65-acre plantation on John's Island. For 2-3 months annually, these beautiful horses are free to run in large pastures or leisurely graze under century-old live oaks.

Tours operate daily from 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 (DST) 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. (EST).

My sister, brother-in-law and I took a carriage ride to have a tour of Charleston. Our tour guide, Lance was very knowledgeable and quite humorous. We also really enjoyed Freddie our beautiful horse. We all felt that we really lucked out with Old South Carriage because we didn't know one company from another. It was a great tour and we... More

My wife and I booked a private tour in small carriage that seats 4. Old South is pet friendly and they let our 90 pound golden retriever join us. We had great time traveling through the historic streets and our guide was very knowledgable. A memorable event during our stay in Charleston. Jake (our retriever) definitely recommends them!

We went on a tour on July 15th. This company is awesome. Very friendly and professional. We got to meet the owner of the company since we were early for the first tour of the day. He is very passionate about his business and it is reflected in the quality of the tour.

I have had the good fortune of touring Charleston with Old South Carriage tours company twice this Sumner, once in June and once this past week. We had Ro the first time and a young man whose name has escaped me on the 20th. Both were excellent guides, very knowledgeable and fun and really brought the old south to life... More

I went a few weeks back with my family, and we all enjoyed it! Our tour guide, Janice, was beyond knowledgeable when it comes to the history of Charleston and our tour, and was full of funny comments and side stories... If you can, definitely try and get her! As for the tour itself, it was an excellent way to... More

Our guide, Carol, was fun & interesting. She was excellent with Dave, the horse, and shared the history of Charleston and other information with a sense of humor. This was a great introduction to historical Charleston in a short time. A great way to start our visit.

We have toured with Old South Carriage Company multiple times; and this last tour did not live up to our expectations. They way they do it in Charleston is always "crap shoot." You never know which route you will get until they get their lottery ball. This time we got route 1 and we just did not find it as... More

Good stories, nice break from walking the city in the heat and humidity. Though our guide needed some assistance with stories from the "driver", as she was fairly new, but you have to start at some point.

We stayed 2 nights in Charleston, SC and didn't have a lot of time. I read on Trip Advisor that it is easy to book the carriage tour in morning and Ft Sumter at noon or 2:30 tour. When I called the carriage tour, they recommended early morning booking because the horses can get hot in afternoon and tours could... More
