Our family group of seven (ages 11-60) had a beautiful experience with Captain Brandon on a half-day Historic Harbor Tour. He taught us all about the history of the harbor, from European settlement though the Civil War. We saw Fort Sumter, Castle Pinckney, the Yorktown and the other ships at Patriot's Point, and all the infrastructure that supports Charleston's shipping industry. We also got the downlow on all the ritzy houses that line the harbor. This tour was not all social studies, by any means. There were lots of dolphins, which had just had their pups. We learned about how the moms were teaching the kids to circle up fish for dinner. Brandon took us by a nature preserve to check on his favorite Osprey. While idling near its nest, we had dolphins come so close they went UNDER the boat. So cool. We learned all about the giant yachts we've seen for years in the marinas. On the way back at sunset, we watched a sailboat race, which was just gorgeous. The kids LOVED this tour. My sons encouraged the tug boats to blow their horns and they actually did it! Brandon taught them a LOT about how the boat works and how harbors are marked for pilots. Scheduling was easy, through email and text. The day before, I received a pin through google maps that marked our exact pickup location. Brandon took really good care of us, making sure we were sun blocked, hydrated, safe, and comfortable. He even had snacks. One member of our party needed a bathroom break and Brandon very quickly docked at a restaurant where she could run in. That's the kind of thing that would have made the trip miserable if he hadn't handled it perfectly. Super accommodating. Highly recommend.
