This was an incredible piece of history. The park rangers here really know their stuff and the introduction to the site is worth taking time to listen.

Worth the trip when you are in Charleston. Narrated boat trip to Fort Sumter. Plan about 3 hours round trip. Good view of the harbor. Saw some dolphins on the trip out

I always wanted to visit Fort Sumter because of its historical significance. We learned a lot about it during the boat trip to the fort and at the museum at the fort. Be ready to climb many steps at the fort. I enjoyed this trip...More

For me personally the boat ride out to Fort Sumpter was the best part. There isn't much to see at the actual Fort but it was cool to step onto a piece of history and imagine the day the Civil War started.

It is ok to see and great to hear the stories about the time before and during the Civil War. History is more complex than we heard in school. The boat ride out and back are a good port tour.

For us as visiting Brits this was so interesting and full of information. A nice cruise with narrative out to the Fort then an hour there with a compelling guide who kept everyone interested whilst telling the history. Time to wander around before the trip...More

The fort is all open but I believe they do. When I went it was sunny and while at the fort it turned black and poured!! Boats were still running back and forth. Hope that helps. Hope you get to see it!!
