This is a great museum. It was much more extensive then I had thought. There were numerous exhibits and explanatory plaques. It was arranged a bit weirdly - it didn't seem to file a linear historical path at times, but within each grouping, the artifacts...More
Spent about 90 minutes in the museum. The local earth science story was well presented but the most interesting and best presentation was the history section which was well shown on a good timeline with plenty of detail but not too much, either. The Egyptian...More

My day visit to Charleston Museum was enlightening and caught my eye with beautiful displays of the museum artifacts, history, and more. If you love reading and discovering new things, then you can give this place a try.

Nice museum about the history of Charleston. Great information for adults and children a like and a good place to start if you are a first time traveler to the city. Spent about 3 hours here. Would suggest buying the combination tour, and visiting the...More
Budget 2 hours MINIMUM for this place ... 3-4 if you can spare it. As “America’s Oldest Museum,” it deserves a deep dive, and I was captivated by the old taxidermied specimens as well as the more current galleries.
