Never played Old South before but the group were very pleased we did on this years trip! Our overall consensus was that this course is a "gem". For basically $80 the round was very economical considering the prices for other courses in the area, including those on HHI. The course was in great condition, the guys at the bag drop were great, the staff in the clubhouse and the starter were all very nice. The course itself was in very good condition. We played on a very windy day so those conditions made some of the holes very challenging.....you can say lost balls in the marshes!!!! I do think the Restaurant/Snack bar can definitely use an upgrade, it has all the glamour of a HS cafeteria! Old South is now definitely on our radar and we are adding it to our "must plays" on the yearly trip!

We chose this course because it was available on Golf Now. The price was reasonable using Golf Now and the course was easy to get to just off of the island. I enjoyed the varied types of holes, The greass was very good, the greens putted well and the staff was excellent. This is a good beginning course for your visit to the area. Call about playing in the afternoon. It may be cheaper.

Played with family and was very impressed with the layout and conditions overall for the price compared to other HHI golf courses. Greens were smooth but slow, the course had the nicest fringes I have ever seen. there are some beautiful holes and I would plait again in a heartbeat. They had not oversewed and the bermuda was coming in nicely. Great buy for the money and we played in four hours!

Played Oyster Reef (poorly) yesterday. Dennis in pro shop recommended Old South. Sooooo glad he did . From Kelly @ bag drop to Al ( Bears fan)-starter. to ranger( NY), pro shop, etc... ALL friendly & welcoming. Course was in REALLY good shape( got to see waaay more of it than I wanted). Great layout, challenging for this hacker(+30ish), but fair and fun. Wonderfully scenic, got a lot more pix than pars. Paired w/a father & son(14 y/o) from Gainesville, GA- JT(14) shot Even Par from the tips ! Very good Value, imho, BEST in area.... First time playing here, hope its not the last.

Played late afternoon 9 holes. A beautiful course with stunning views. Good for all levels. Course and carts in good shape. Nice clubhouse. Staff was helpful and good value.

Well kept course. The staff was very friendly and accommodative. We had a group of 5. They moved other players around to get us back to back. Pace of play was good. A wide Variety of wild life. Interesting raccoon squirrels, turkeys, turtles and gators.
The pro shop has a nice selection of reasonably priced swag.
Played this course and several on the island. This was my favorite to date.

Although we have been coming down to HHI for years this is the first time we played this course. Unlike the courses on the island this course is very open since much of borders the Savannah .
My wife and I really enjoyed the course. It is challenging. Unfortunately it was golf path only due to wet conditions. As a result , it was slow given you had to walk back n’ forth across the fairway. Although we would highly recommend my suggestion would be to call ahead regarding conditions especially “cart path only” before you book your round.

Located on the mainland just short of Hilton Head Island. Friendly & helpful staff. Very good practice facilities. Decent golf course - would have rated it higher if not for several hokey Par 4’s which turn on a right angle. Very good condition. Greens in excellent shape and true. When correct for price of green fees very good value.

Quirky layout. Greens and fairways well maintained, but white tee boxes are like a pitcher’s mound and difficult to find a level area. Price is reasonable and staff courteous.

I played July 18,2020. First off the staff is very good with social distancing and mask usage. I was a single and the starter got me off early (8:12) with three great guys from Pittsburgh. The course was in excellent condition for a very hot July. Greens ran true. Old South has great views and takes advantage of breeze off the coast. Very fair and beautiful. It was a great experience. Everyone from the cart staff, pro shop, cart girl and the guy selling hit the green chances were fabulous. One of best values of the low country. I will be back. Thanks
