- Robynne WildmanWarwick, Rhode Island1 contributionGreat place for almost any outdoor activityThis park has woods, open areas, waterfront, a paved walkway, two parking lots, two beaches and a few leftover parts of amusement rides from when it was an amusement park. There are about 6 plaques around the park that has pictures and tells a little bit about the park and the history of it. They are rebuilding the pier as I write this, which only enhances the park! The city has many events during the summer, including free movies in the park on a big screen! Great for picnics, biking, running, swimming, fishing, hiking and just hanging out. Go check it out! :)Visited March 2020Written March 13, 2020
- maljfandersonWarwick, Rhode Island7 contributionsGreat place to take a walk along Narragansett Bay!Rocky Point Park is wonderful to walk,, jog, walk dogs and people watch. You can also fish from a brand new pier and also there is a beach for swimming. Ample parking (two lots) and they have about 8 handicap parking spots right on the water!Visited September 2022Written September 11, 2022

I am a Rhode Islander, and I haven't been to Rocky Point , since I was a kid. I wanted to see what became of it. It was an amusement park, and, famous for it's shore dinner hall, and, outdoor pool. I miss it all. So, what's down there now, is a place where you can walk by the water. Talk to other visitors , which are probably from RI. I'm sure they will have a story to share about the park, from the old days. You will be happy you went. It is very quiet. It' a good place to go sit on a bench, by the water. Enjoy!

Beautiful spot to spend a relaxing afternoon. There was a brand new pier for fishing, a small beach area and lots of grassy areas to picnic. There is a paved path to walk on to access everything as well as beautiful rocky areas to sit and relax. The most interesting thing was that this was an old amusement park. There are remnants from the old park that you walk around and enjoy seeing for a bit of nostalgia.

If you ever visited Rocky Point Amusement Park back in the day this will be a nostalgic trip for you. This park set right along the water’s edge is fabulous for walkers, bikers and lots of dogs! You can actually walk up to structures that are left from some of the rides that used to be there. Information signs will fill you in on each particular site. The old Dining Hall and olympic sized swimming pool info is there to read also. Really awesome and the grounds are vast….fly a kite, pack a picnic or just enjoy the scenery. They do offer port a potties in the main parking lot. Have fun.

Once the home to the Flume, the Corkscrew, the Cyclone, the Freefall and an assortment of other thrilling attractions, Warwick's Rocky Point State Park is now a serene 120 acres of spectacular coastal retreat. Our newest state park opened nearly two years ago to today's date, yet it seemingly remains a secret to many Rhode Islanders, even those who once worshiped the amusement park that thrived there until 1996. As a volunteer at the park's events, it amazes me that many residents don't realize it's a state park. And that they can explore the grounds and its retained amusement park structures like the Swing tower, support towers and hardware from the circa 1966 Skyliner ride, and the glorious entrance arch that came to Rocky Point in either 1969 or 1970 from the 1964/65 New York World's Fair. To enlighten folks about the state park, I have been doing a YouTube series of brief video episodes shot on location. It's a labor of love...for the park that I love.
Seems everywhere you point a camera or a phone, you'll capture an awesome photo. Be sure to catch the sun glistening off Narragansett Bay. And if you close your eyes who might just hear the laughter and screams from 20 years ago.
Rocky Point State Park hosts several summertime events such as Movies In The Park, but you need not attend an event to roam the former midway and passionately recall the memories of a magical place that's been part of Rhode Island's landscape since 1847.

Came here on a weekend day because of a geocaching event and then spent some time exploring the park. There were lots of different areas to explore - rocky beach, sandy beach, remnants of the amusement park, and monuments to time gone by.

Rocky Point is probably my favorite place on earth... Now age 57, as a child, I had such a blast there... I was one of those kids that my parents had to practically drag me away to get me home. I couldn't get enough, practically ran from ride to ride to get as much in in one day as possible. As a child, I was less impressed by the breathtaking views of Narraganset Bay, more interested in the amusement park. Although I live in MA, I return to the park each year. As a kid, is one my piece of heaven. I still have very fond memories of Rocky Point, as an adult, I continue to LOVE THAT PLACE. As an adult, my interests have shifted. I now have a new appreciation for the breathtaking views, for the beach, for this absolutely beautiful spot. I miss the rides, they were exhilirating... but will cherish those memories for life. I now love that this awesome spot was preserved for visitors so that we all have awesome to these awesome views, this great swimming spot...
There is no admission fee to enter, also a free parking lot, although it is not that big. There is more street parking. The park is relatively quiet. It is quite large, so it can easily handle people traffic. Just an awesome place to visit... Again, probably my favorite place on earth... I just love this place... I have even thought of relocating to this immediate area just to be close to it... so I could go daily... The park is a gem!

Former amusement park turned open space, Rocky Point features a beautiful and well-maintained paved walking path making it one of the more accessible parks around Warwick. Large stretching manicured grasses, picnic tables, benches, and direct access to the Bay mean you'll never run out of things to do at Rocky Point. Pack a picnic lunch, bring the whole family and enjoy a beautiful summer day.

Memories of taking our children to Rocky Point when it was an amusement park but sadly cannot take out grandchildren; however, it is a great seaside walk with plenty of benches.

Can you swim in the water? Is the water clean?

Warwick, RI96 contributions
It is Ocean Water from the Bay. You can swim, but sea weed. I prefer Ocean in Narragansett and Westerly.
Is there a lifeguard on duty at the beach??

I don’t think so. It is more of a rocky shore people walk on. Some may take a dip.....
