7 MILES FROM NEWPORT w/ ample FREE PARKING! Since 2017, the Newport Car Museum has welcomed tens of thousands of visitors from around the world. Located in a converted 3-acre building that once served as a missile manufacturing facility, the Newport Car Museum presents 100+ cars as art, displaying them in seven galleries that use theatrical lighting, specially commissioned large-format artwork and award-winning videos to tell the story of Ford/Shelby, Corvettes, World Cars, Porsches, Fin Cars, Mopars and American Muscle Cars. Meticulously kept cars are displayed on low-rise platforms and turntables, with no barrier ropes, allowing for unobstructed 360-degree inspection, especially appreciated on “Hoods Up” Weekends held the second weekend of every month. Rounding out the experience are friendly, knowledgeable docents; a collection of Mid-Century modern furniture; and a cool gift shop with hundreds of eclectic items for all ages.

Exhibits showcase the features and history of each car. We particularly enjoyed the Corvette gallery and muscle car room. - bigbill1172 contributionsFun Time Memories For AllI always enjoy visiting the Newport Car Museum . This is the fourth time this year I have been there 11-18-23 . I took my brother in-law from Florida there he said that it was the best all around collection of cars he has ever seen in one place . We would like to Thank Vinny and his wonderful staff for their personal attention and extreme knowledge of the cars . We appreciated they answered all of our questions. It’s definitely a class facility and staff . Thanks Bill and Don !Visited November 2023Traveled with familyWritten November 18, 2023

It was the perfect way to spend a chilly, foggy day .... at least for a "car guy."Visited December 2023Traveled with familyWritten December 28, 2023
- Quest388101604916 contributionsGreat car museumAwesome collection of cars, very well displayed. I took 2 -14 year old boys here that spent 2 hours walking around admiring the cars. All the staff were very helpful and there to answer any questions or give you info on any of the cars.Visited March 2024Traveled with familyWritten March 16, 2024
- RYC88Centreville, Virginia1,321 contributionsIt's really an art museum that features cars! The place is gorgeous, filled to the brim with about 100 beautiful and amazing cars. Even if you are not a car fanatic, it's just a fabulous place to walk around and admire the beauty. Every car is started at least once a month and none of them are reproductions, they are all originals. There are detailed signs with each that offer all the car fanatic information, as well as little tidbits for those who like cars, but don't need all the nitty-gritty details. The docents are so friendly and engaging. There are also benches/chairs that are high art, so it's not just cars. What a fascinating display - so well done.Visited March 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten April 20, 2024
- Saba AlhadiBoston, Massachusetts84 contributionsCruise to the Newport Car Museum! What a fantastic experience! I was greeted with a warm welcome upon arrival and given an overview of how to navigate the museum. It is so organized and easy to explore the collection of cars in 7 galleries. Each and every car is in absolutely pristine condition, super shiny and have individual descriptions with fun facts. Lighting at the museum is perfect for photos with a mobile phone or camera. I took lots of photos and videos of the incredible details of the classic cars from another era as well as some that are fairly current. Newport Car Museum is a paradise for car enthusiasts and photographers(like me), as well as a fun activity for families. Exceeded my expectations!Visited July 2024Traveled soloWritten July 25, 2024
- MB6tdCave Spring, Virginia139 contributionsExceptional!Beautiful cars and perfectly displayed. Every visitor we saw walk in after us stopped like us and said ‘let me just take it all in’. Our teen sons were in heaven and read every display and took full advantage of an excellent gift shop. Not to miss if you’re a car, especially American made, fanatic.Visited August 2024Traveled with familyWritten July 31, 2024
- TravelinJoe47435 contributionsMore than I Had Expected!A wonderful experience with many classic automobiles! Whatever your taste in cars, it's here. A fine collection of Porsches properly displayed. The museum is well set up and very clean! The signage for each vehicle was helpful and the lighting was a plus if you wanted to take pictures - I did! Next time I am in the neighborhood, I'll drop in - can't get enough of these automobiles!Visited August 2024Traveled soloWritten August 25, 2024

We are car people, we own several show cars, and have been to countless museums and collections across the country. The Newport museum is fairly new (inside), clean and modern. It features changing exhibits, with unusual modern "art" furniture scattered around. It's divided into small groups of cars with a theme. There was a Ford room with Mustangs, Shelby's, Cobras, etc. There was a 'vette room, an exotic room, a finned 50's room, a modern Mopar muscle room, and a classic musclecar room. There were some other odd cars scattered around. The staff were friendly, and available to answer questions. one thing stood out to me about the cars here. Mostly all the cars here were in exceptional condition. Typically, almost all car museums we have visited, the cars are in average condition. These cars were probably all in a 9.5 up condition. Naturally, none were registered or had inspection stickers. Most looked like they had never been driven, or rarely driven. The musclecars looked like cars that live on trailers, go to the World of Wheels, and back into the garage. Same with the exotics, although to be fair, many were 300k to about a million dollars! There is something for everybody here, there's a bunch of driving simulators, too. It's HP accessible, good for all ages, clean and recommended. Plan maybe a couple hours if you are going to read about the cars and watch the short flicks. It's a good "corona" trip, you can keep your distance!

If you read my review of the Audrain Museum, you will learn I like cars, but I am not a "buff." As much as I loved that little site, I found the Newport Car Museum exceptional for a host of other reasons.
This is a place maybe 4 or 5 times as large and showing at least 5 times as many automotive wonders. Where the other has to be selective, the Newport is able to overwhelm with a room full of high prices sport cars, another with more models of Corvettes than all the examples at the smaller venue, yet another with a historic lineup of Shelby designed racing cars, a passage filled with fin cars and another room of muscle cars.
The enthusiast can soak up the beauties and the novice can stagger through in awe. Everyone will be dazzled here.

The Newport Car Museum was a very pleasant surprise. We had family in from out of town who really wanted to go to the museum. While I like classic cars, I expected not to love this museum. I couldn't have been more wrong. The expansive building is full of the most beautifully restored cars – it’s almost overwhelming. At every turn, there is another grouping of cars. There are staff walking throughout who have some fantastic stories of the cars, give directions to cars you may have an interest in, and offer assistance with anything you need. The building is immaculately maintained, and it has a gift shop with a great selection of items to choose from. Overall, I can’t recommend this more highly if you have any interest in classic cars. You feel like you’re in an art museum instead of a car museum.

If you are a car lover, or not, you will enjoy a few hours of interesting car facts. The museum is immaculate, the gentlemen who work their know about the cars so you can ask questions and get answers, they were very friendly. My husband and I remembered cars from our childhood, threw our teenage years. We laughed at the "fin" section because we couldn't figure out how we would put one in our garage. It was a fun 2 - 2 1/2 hours on a rainy day. I have a Dodge Charger and it was fun to see one 49 years younger than mine.

My husband and I live nearby and have been wanting to visit this car museum, so we finally did today. We really enjoyed looking at all of the different cars in the collection. There is a wide variety of vehicles on display from 1950s to present, surely there a favorite to be found for everyone. The museum is also decorated and put together so nicely. We also enjoyed the modern artistic furniture, video displays and artwork surrounding the cars. We also enjoyed the race simulator room and were able to drive our own simulated race car around a track. Lots to look at and lots to learn here!

If you love cars this is a wonderful place to spend a few hours. There are collections of Lamborghinis, Ford GT40s, Porsche, American Muscle cars and Corvettes to name but a few. Also a pristine Jaguar XJ 220.

The cars were sparkling like jewels. The facility with it's decor, lighting and layout made the cars sparkle like the Crown Jewels. We were greeted by a friendly woman who started talking about the history of the cars. It turns out she is an owner and influential in the design of the Museum! We have never been to a car museum, and we've been to many, where so much attention was given not only to the cars, but to the details of the facility, from decor to lighting to tasteful layout. If you are ever within 200 miles of Newport, R.I. this is a must-see detour.

The museum is absolutely beautiful. It is bright and an artistic masterpiece. There is a wonderful feeling that you experience the moment you walk in the door. I first entered with a bit of hesitation because I was bringing my Dad who is currently having trouble walking due to serious back and leg issues. I inquired about the ability to rent a scooter. The gentleman quickly offered a complimentary wheelchair. It was perfect. They actually brought one out to our car outside. Three very handsome men helped us all with smiles on their faces. They were incredibly kind. Father's were also greeted with no fee to come to the museum on Father's Day! How amazing is that ?! On a day that the museum could possibly even have more men, they are gracious enough to make it a giving experience. I am very grateful and impressed.

I have a real love for American classic cars and being the owner of a Mustang I found the museum extremely enjoyable. The variety of cars was fantastic, the staff were helpful and informative and parking and aces to the museum couldn’t be easier. If you love cars this is a must see.

Driving by the day before our visit I remarked that an auto museum might be an interesting spot to visit. We had no expectations and were pleasantly surprised! My favorite part was the one on one docent who made our visit even more enjoyable. He was full of wonderful information. We spent about 1 hour + there.
