About
7 MILES FROM NEWPORT w/ ample FREE PARKING! Since 2017, the Newport Car Museum has welcomed tens of thousands of visitors from around the world. Located in a converted 3-acre building that once served as a missile manufacturing facility, the Newport Car Museum presents 90+ cars as art, displaying them in six galleries (and a Pop-Up Porsche Exhibit) that use theatrical lighting, specially commissioned large-format artwork and award-winning videos to tell the story of Ford/Shelby, Corvettes, World Cars, Fin Cars, Mopars and American Muscle Cars. Meticulously kept cars are displayed on low-rise platforms and turntables, with no barrier ropes, allowing for unobstructed 360-degree inspection, especially appreciated on “Hoods Up” Weekends held the second weekend of every month. Rounding out the experience are friendly, knowledgeable docents; a collection of Mid-Century modern furniture; and a cool gift shop with hundreds of eclectic items for all ages.

a huge selection of vintage autos that shows the way cars were made when they were really made well. The museum itself is large and the price to enter is now really that bad when you think of all the work that goes into these cars and taking care of a nice place like this. Good Parking. Nice Staff. If you visit in the are you should go here. a great place for the entire family . not a restaurant. But it is a Gem

The cars are perfection and every one has a story or reason for being there; from cars just a few years old to a replica of the first car ever made. Even better than the cars was the staff. You could tell they were real “car guys”. They could answer any question and have an extensive talk with you about any car, even if it wasn’t in the collection. They topped off the visit for an extra special experience.

I have been to a number of car museums around the country and this one is quite unique. Most cars on display are fairly modern, post 1955 and mostly high performance or racing models. Good collection, very well curated and exhibited. Fantastic collection of Shelby Mustangs and other cars.

It was July 31st and overcast in Middleton RI where my wife and I were staying for two weeks. We were looking for something to do and my wife suggested that we go to the Newport Car Museum. We had passed by this large building on our way to Newport for the past couple of years and wondered what was inside. We ventured over to the museum and were BLOWN AWAY at what we saw! Exquisite collections of Ford Mustangs and Cobras presented with details of their history. The same situation for Corvettes and Chrysler! They have an extensive Mercedes collection as well. I am a car buff and love Jaguars. They have a beautiful E-Type on display. We spent over 4 hours there and it wasn't enough! They have a race car simulator that people can use in non covid times.
When we were ending our tour we went into the gift shop and I could not stop giving complements to the attendant there. She said I could actually talk to the owner and his wife as they both happened to be at the museum. We sat waiting in the lobby for a few minutes and the owner came out and greeted us. I could not stop telling him how we both loved his museum and what a great job he was doing. I also went over to see his wife and also told her what a great job they both have done. They were both very friendly people and easy to talk to. He offered me a hat which I gladly accepted and told him we would definitely be back again. Don't miss this jewel of a place. Make it a must on your list!

The museum is absolutely beautiful. It is bright and an artistic masterpiece. There is a wonderful feeling that you experience the moment you walk in the door. I first entered with a bit of hesitation because I was bringing my Dad who is currently having trouble walking due to serious back and leg issues. I inquired about the ability to rent a scooter. The gentleman quickly offered a complimentary wheelchair. It was perfect. They actually brought one out to our car outside. Three very handsome men helped us all with smiles on their faces. They were incredibly kind. Father's were also greeted with no fee to come to the museum on Father's Day! How amazing is that ?! On a day that the museum could possibly even have more men, they are gracious enough to make it a giving experience. I am very grateful and impressed.

We visited the museum today! There are close to 80 cars to see; which are all one person’s collection. We completely enjoyed our visit looking at the cars as well as watching the films that are placed in some of the rooms. The museum is immaculate (including the restrooms which are cleaned every hour). We were fortunate enough to meet the owner of the collection!! What a down to earth and humble gentleman!! He completely appreciated our compliments!! He did explain that prior to the pandemic they had a room where you could take a simulated ride in a race car on any track in the world!! Hopefully, we will return to a time that this will once again be possible!!
We would 100% recommend a visit to this museum!!!
The photos are just a small example of what is in the museum.

If you are a car lover, or not, you will enjoy a few hours of interesting car facts. The museum is immaculate, the gentlemen who work their know about the cars so you can ask questions and get answers, they were very friendly. My husband and I remembered cars from our childhood, threw our teenage years. We laughed at the "fin" section because we couldn't figure out how we would put one in our garage. It was a fun 2 - 2 1/2 hours on a rainy day. I have a Dodge Charger and it was fun to see one 49 years younger than mine.

The showroom design and display and several custom made films added something special to the phenomenal classic muscle and contemporary racing cars on display. We enjoyed speaking with the friendly staff about the cars and the museum. If you are an art and furniture design geek like I am, you will love everything about the museum including the mid century design type seating. My husband and I had a great time and highly recommended the Newport Car Museum.

If you read my review of the Audrain Museum, you will learn I like cars, but I am not a "buff." As much as I loved that little site, I found the Newport Car Museum exceptional for a host of other reasons.
This is a place maybe 4 or 5 times as large and showing at least 5 times as many automotive wonders. Where the other has to be selective, the Newport is able to overwhelm with a room full of high prices sport cars, another with more models of Corvettes than all the examples at the smaller venue, yet another with a historic lineup of Shelby designed racing cars, a passage filled with fin cars and another room of muscle cars.
The enthusiast can soak up the beauties and the novice can stagger through in awe. Everyone will be dazzled here.
