Scarboro State Beach

I like the beach because the water is warm and the waves are usually good for biggie boards, and most of the time there is little seaweed. The beach is quite big, but weekends... read more

Why? There is tons of parking, and you can even bring your motor home, travel trailer, tents, BBQ, and the entire football team if you want. The beach is long, and there is a lot of space to get away from all the other people if you want, play a game on the beach, and have fun! The parking lot... More

In general, RI waters are the best in New England. Warm enough to swim; no Cape traffic... Scarborough has decent surf, but shallow enough for young kids to get some splashing in. Beach umbrella is a must; no shady spots at Scarborough. Parking is per car, with surcharge for out of town license plates. Get there early and stay all... More

We have traveled to several Rhode Island beaches over the past 40 years. This is by far the very best - truly a family beach. The sand was clean, the water clear and many life guards. We could only go on the weekend and it was a particularly hot day so we week early and had great parking with lots... More

This beach is great. Big waves, good facilities and food. Lots of parking, life guarded. There are also covered pavillions and outdoor showers

A far as the eye can reach we saw clean sand, viewing stands with benches and many life guard posts. No boom boxes or annoying or rude people . the atmosphere was restful and family friendly.

Car load parking fee. Food available. Seating available for those that want to stay out of the sun. Clean and Sandy. Great family beach. Lodging across the street. Parking area for R.V.'s on grass area, picnic area too.

I like the beach because the water is warm and the waves are usually good for biggie boards, and most of the time there is little seaweed. The beach is quite big, but weekends are getting extremely busy. The pavillioms are a nice place to get out of the sun.

Nice State Beach in Narragansett. Go to North Beach and use lot on other side of road to park. Get there early on weekends to ensure close parking (before 10am). Drop off beach stuff from road then park. No fees to get on beach - just per vehicle to park. Lots of daily visitors on weekend but not terribly crowded... More

What a beautiful beach! Very, very clean. Long expanses of great sand, waves for the kids (young and old), boogie boards, and easy inexpensive parking available. A great place to walk and bike early in the day, also.

We had a wonderful time here. Large facilities with showers ($0.75), a snack bar, picnic tables, chair and umbrella rental, a large boardwalk/deck, and plenty of indoor room. There were also quite a few lounge chairs on the beach for public use. Sizable waves that were surprisingly gentle and not knockdown. Perfect for boogie-boarding and having fun. I recommend bringing... More
