In years past you were able to wander the grounds and get a good look at the lighthouse. In this new era of security, the lighthouse and surrounding grounds are no longer open to the public. The lighthouse is manned by the coast guard to enforce the no access. That said, the adjacent park is great place to relax and watch the ocean. There is free parking.

Beautiful panoramic views! And you can see surfers and paddleboaders ride the waves!! No visiting the actual light house, though. Still worth the trip!

We were exploring the area around Narragansett and headed to the Point Judith Lighthouse, figuring it would make for a great coastal view and nice photo opportunities. The drive down was nice. Unfortunately, the lighthouse itself is a disappointment, at least for tourists: it is part of a U.S. Coast Guard facility and is thus surrounded by a large fence with restricted access. You cannot go anywhere near the lighthouse, and photo opportunities are tough due to the security. On the plus side, there is a nice park relatively close with several benches (a few in need of repair) and great coastal views. It was relaxing to spend a few minutes there enjoying the coast and breeze.

There is a huge wire fence around the lighthouse. Can’t get close at all. Can’t get any photos of the lighthouse without the fence or the vehicles in the fence. Disappointing

We visited here a few mornings and for sunsets. The views are great! From the parking lot, there's the lighthouse to the left as well as a fisherman's memorial on an overlook. To the right is a beach that's best for sunset viewing.
