A medium sized beach, with calm water. Perfect for little ones or anyone who does not care for big waves. It was nice to look out on the mooring field of boats, very pretty. There is also a snack shack down the beach (didn't go but was nice to know it's there) which is open to all. Porta Potties are... More

This beach was perfect for my 6 year old who still isn't that confident in big waves. Not crowded sandy beach with lots of shells and little to no seaweed. It is a private beach so if its busy with residence who have passes they might not let you park in the lot.

I wish we knew there was a volleyball tournament going on that weekend because the price to park was outrageous especially for the limited space that was available on the beach due to numerous areas being blocked off for Volleyball nets and etc... I think it should have been advertised more on the radio with signs leading to the beach... More

This beach was a lot less crowded than 1st or 2nd, and the water was much calmer. It was a great introduction to the ocean for our 5 and 8 year olds. Very pretty and peaceful. Fairly clean, with tons of shells to find. No real amenities, no bathrooms, no snack bar. There is a place to rent kayaks and... More

If your visiting the Newport area and want a beach that's not as busy as the larger beaches check out Third Beach, especially if you have small children. It's not ocean front at the beginning of the Seakonnet River. Therefore you don't have surf, but you do have to watch the tide and drop off which changes during the day... More

I have a family of 3 children (twin 4-yr olds and a 2 yr old) who loved this beach which they re-titled "seashell beach." Due to the location, the water is very flat with no waves which made entry easy for my kids who are still learning to swim. It also made it a good beach option on one particularly... More

This was a pleasant surpass, as I found it while driving back from a bird sanctuary. It is a small quiet beach, located next to a wild life refuge. Next time I will bring a bicycle so that I can cycle through the refuge and end at the beach.

the is the best beach in Newport or Middletown for parents with toddlers and small children. there are no waves to threaten young ones and it's quiet but with limited parking. ideal picnic beach for the family. well used in winter by walkers and shell collectors of all ages. nice little beach.
