It was a pretty good spot. Liked the private beach even though it’s small and rocky and loved you can bring the dogs on it. BIGGEST problem is you can’t pull your car to your campsite. That makes zero sense. It was close to 100° this weekend and we needed some air reprieve for the dogs. Ended up finding one spot we could pull the car in and just asked the RV owner if it was OK and he was fine with it (we had to drive through his space). Plus the seagulls will destroy your bag of trash unless you lock it in the car. Overall it’s a good spot, close to Beavertail and we went to Newport for dinner one night. GREAT views.

We must have been in the wrong place. The road we went out sort of came to a dead end and they were building a house there. I guess we did see what they call the Battery. Sort of a field with a flag pole in it. We did go a little piece down a trail but turned around and came back. Never saw any camping or RV facilities. Might have to try going back tomorrow.

We went to Fort Getty today. I’ve been coming to Jamestown since I was born some 60+ years ago and don’t ever remember going there. Today there was an classic car show and it was excellent! I look forward to going back to spend time wandering the grounds!

I recently parked at Fort Getty and ran a half marathon. Although I didn't camp here, I did get to see the beautiful views from this location. I thought it would be a great place to camp, but I do not have any experience beyond running through the park during my race. I can see why early settlers settled in this area, since it is beautiful!

The staff at this campground are amazing. We arrived early evening on the opening day for a 4 night stay. We were tired after a long drive, and were greeted by a young man at the gate who was super helpful, patient, and funny, despite how busy his day must have been. He made what could have been one of those cranky, tired arrival scenarios into a great experience. Anytime we had questions, the staff had answers. The tenting area is basic, with good facilities, and a place to park our boat - we didn't need anything more than what we had, and the best part is that you are lulled to sleep by the sound of waves breaking on the nearby beach. The area is beautiful, with lots to do - we barely scratched the surface....we will be back again! Thanks to the park staff, and the Jamestown Recreation folks, who helped make our trip a truly memorable one.
