We visited this Lighthouse even though we knew the museum was closed and we couldn't walk up inside it. I'm so glad we did! The surrounding area was simply beautiful! Rocky cliffs and waves crashing all around - stunning coastline and scenery! Lots of wonderful photo spots and a taste of the area's history from reading the signs posted out... More

Beaver tail has a beautiful view of the rocky shore of Rhode Island. The lighthouse and the site of the previous light house have significant history that is revealed in the small museum there.

The day we left Rhode Island we decided to stop by Beavertail Lighthouse. It was cold and pouring, but definitely worth it. This is the quintessential New England coastline with waves crashing upon the rocks and an old lighthouse standing sentry. You only need an hour or so, but if you are going to Newport, it's worth the detour.

Take a blanket or chairs and plan to stay a while. I could have sat for hours watching and listening to the sea. Huge rocks adequate for a blanket and picnic lunch as well as lots of grassy areas. Not the prettiest lighthouse I've seen, but well-kept and interesting facts to learn.

My wife and I love lighthouses and this one didn't disappoint. We seen it while at Castle Hill lighthouse and drove over to it the next day. Spectacular views from here.

Beautiful loop to driver or walk the park. Amazing views from the shoreline and rocks the day we were there, high waves rolling in among the many rocks which was a great photo opportunity

This is one of the most peaceful places on earth. You can hear and watch the waves break on the rocks. You can see the coast of Newport to the east, Point Judith to the West, Whale Rock and Bonnet Shores Beach as well. On a clear day you can see Block Island 10 miles to the south. One of... More

I hate to write about this place. because it is truly my favorite place to visit on the East Coast. I don't want it to get over crowded. How lucky Rhode Islander's are to have this most beautiful natural wonder. Beavertail State Park is just magnificent. It is well worth the drive out to the point. It is a not-to-miss... More

We came upon this park almost by accident. Very pleasant surprise. Nice place for a picnic or looking at the boats going by the point. There is a very interesting lighthouse with a museum located there. This park is worth the effort to see when In the area.
