!st day, sites very, very small and close together, real jerks next site over, had guest that didn't leave till midnight, no Park Patrol, they made noise all night. They also smoked cigars and the smell kept us from enjoying a fire that night. Next day, incomes a large group, looked like they took up 4 sites, they were really loud. There were Park Rangers that night but they left at 9 pm. This is no place to go if you want some peace and quite. The park is nice and clean, not the camping area. One bathroom for 54 sites, what a mess. I will never go back there.

This is a beautiful state park with great pavilions for family gatherings or picnics, a nice pool, a cute playground. And just walking around on the trails is great for birdwatching. The lake is beautiful and no motors are allowed on boats so it's peaceful. They also have campsites. Beautiful Pennsylvania at its best.

We camp from May through October and many of our trips are to state parks. This park is by far the worse for its facilities. No heat in the bathrooms plus the bathrooms need updating. All water spigots have been stripped so the only place to fill up is at the dump station. Poison Ivy in abundance and ticks. Such a beautiful park and the campground has been left go. This is the last State Park on my list.

I love going here in the Fall for photoshoots! My son also has t-ball practice here at the park. There is a nice playground and pool. The pool is $5/pp. The views are gorgeous as the mountains surround it. Lots of wildlife. We have come across lots of bunnies and deer.

We used one of their Pavillions for 2 seperate Grad Parties over the years and it was fantastic. The price for renting it is reasonable and you have Grills and water, all the picnic tables you could need. just bring your food, drinks and decorations.

This is a cute state park with decent camping, hiking, fishing, and some history which is rather interesting. It is relatively close to many amenities and it is a well cared for park

Francis Slocum State Park named for the historical significance of the kidnapping by the Indians of young Francis Slocum during the early settling of the region. The park offers a PA State designated "big bass lake", boat launches, hiking trails, life guarded pool, paddle boat rentals, picnic pavilions for large groups, bird watching as well as the occasional deer that inhabit the park. .

Went camping at Frances Slocum for the first time and had a great time. We went in the rustic area which you need to walk to from a parking lot. Lots of tree cover and sites not on top of each other. Plenty of places to walk and explore. Close proximity to Wilkes-Barre. All around great time.

This is a great state park for camping. Sites are beautiful. Wooded, private , quiet. The lake is nice because only electric motors are allowed. Lots of hiking trails. It's a good spot for day use too like Picnicking and fishing. No camp store here though, so bring what you need with you.

In this area, bears are a reality. As a hiker, you must always be aware of your surroundings and movement at a distance. Never try to get a better look or go near a cub.

Cost for a camping site for a 40 ft with 4 slide outs and 50 amp service? Is it cheaper if you stay for the 21 days in Sept!!
Written July 27, 2015
Unfortunately I cannot answer that. I am local to the park and I don't camp there.
Written July 27, 2015
It is a free state park. You can picnic, fish, hike and have fun all for free. There is a charge for the Kayak and Paddle Boats; there is also a fee to go swimming and overnight camping.
