My wife and I started to come to Hickory run about 5 years ago to do some hiking. Well from hiking it led to camping , then A lot of fishing and even some hunting in the park and local game lands. The trails are great, all the camping was incredible, and all the rangers have been awesome . Once... More

This is a nice historic place with scenic views. Good place for a day trip with kids. From White Haven to Jim Thorpe is 36 miles one way trip downhill. White Haven to Rock port is 9 miles downhill rip. You will enjoy this place with the entire family.

I took four older children (teenage and college aged) to camp overnight at Hickory Run. The large campground is very peaceful with a variety of types of sites - wooded and more open. Some are visible from the campground road, but ours was on a loop further from the road. Sites 154, 156 and 158 (our site) were some of... More

HRSP has something for everyone at any level. Many hiking trails easy, moderate and difficult levels. Camping here too if you want to stay a few nights to squeeze it all in. Complete with camp store and (yes they do sell firewood). Hawk falls is a lovely short trail with beautiful waterfalls. Boulder field is like nothing you've ever seen... More

Nice lake with a great beach. Boulder field is unexpected and a great fun walk. Good place to hike and picnic with lots of trails for all physical levels.

Watch out in summer. The VERY FIRST trail we decided to try had a large black rattlesnake about 20 feet into the trail. Of course we immediately left. So we had a near encounter with a deadly snake and a visit of about 5 minutes. I've hiked a bunch of trails, and I've never been that close to anything so... More

Nice for a short walk. The Hawk Falls are wonderful. Take time to go a bit further down the trail to find a secluded river passing. Not sure if feasible for children to swim, but adults can surely enjoy cold water on hot days.

I really love this campground for tent camping. There are many walk in sites as well as quite a few drive in sites that are semi-private if you drive to the back of the grounds. Showers are newer, clean, tiled and warm water showers are awesome after a day of hiking or swimming. Camp store is jam packed with anything... More

We were here for a day of hiking and to see the bolder field. The trails are well marked and easy to follow. Most are, by themselves shorter day hikes but you can get in there and just keep on going from one to the next. Stop at the office and grab a map or use an app so you... More
