I went camping with my sons and my brother and enjoyed a great weekend at this state park. The online reservation process made check in easy and the staff were there at 8pm Friday when we arrived. I was a little annoyed that they charge you $5 per night if you want to park a second car at your site.... More

I love camping here every fourth of july and enjoy it every time. The campsites don't cost much and are very enjoyable. There are also many scenic trails that I go on every time. overall this is a very nice park.

Almost 16,000 acres: This large park has over 40 miles of hiking trails, three state park natural areas and miles of trout streams. Boulder Field, a striking boulder-strewn area, is a National Natural Landmark. There is so much to do, I felt inadequate with my four mile hike before the deluges this afternoon. A large picnic area is near Sand... More

We book a camp site online for 30 people with tent. It was amazing. There were plenty of nature attraction: man made lake, dried river with miles and miles of boulders. There is a store on site that has everything you can imagine. We went with our young children (11, 9, 7). We went with our tents, cooler with meat.... More

Boulder field is amazing. But a six mile total trip on dirt roads. The swimming area was nice but no life guard on duty. Also, no trash cans must take your trash with you. We enjoyed our day there. There is a snack shop and nice restrooms to change in.

Most Sites are EXTREMELY SMALL and in very close proximity to each other. The site I booked for tent camping was basically a driveway with no where to pitch a tent. Extremely small VERY ROCKY Sloped terrain. I was in disbelief that the site I booked was even available as a unit fit for purpose. I had to insist that... More

Hickory Run State Park is a great park that has a swimming area, Boulder Field, and a good amount of hiking trails all close by (but still may need to be driven too based on if you're a casual hiker vs an avid hiker.) I would recommend checking out what Hickory Run State Park has to offer and would go... More

Visited Boulder Field (allow lots of time driving to / from in one way system) as well as beach area and a damned reservoir. Excellent lake to swim in with beach, park ranger demonstrating the local wildlife. W/Cs ultra clean. Highly recommended :-)
