I visited yesterday to get more information in my Chester county roots ! It was very well organized and loved that they had newspaper articles by surname . It cost $5 to take pictures with my cellphone and $5 to get in - very reasonable for the resources they had! They also had information from other counties and states. I... More

I was researching family genealogy in Chester County from the 1700s. The Chester County History Society Library has an extensive, well indexed collection. I spent 2 days there and had excellent help from the staff.

The Chester County Historical Society is a wonderful resource for local history. Special exhibits change monthly and run the gamut from the Underground Railroad (West Chester was a prominent part of this route) to historical events. The research library is a great place to locate historical information on the area. Onsite rental spaces host a variety of events.

Or that the composer Samuel Barber was born here? Frederick Douglass spoke here many times. Baryard Rustin was born here and so was the painter... More

As a teacher, I've enjoyed the "traveling Trunks" and field trip options available for school children. Their staff is very knowledgeable about Chester County. The museum is family friendly and suggest you visit their website for their every changing calendar of events. The Historical Society also rents for private events.

My wife took the family here because she wanted to do historical research of her family, with roots in the area. This place us well-designed and quiet- very serious library atmosphere. There is a whole procedure for copying historical dicuments.

We went for the 60's Movie memorabilia exhibit-fun to see how many movies we saw as teens! It's housed i a fun, old building with friendly staff.
