This a fun trip for the whole family. The trip lasts 90 minutes which is exactly the right amount of time. The train takes you from West Chester to Glen Mills Station. They use 1950 diesel locomotives and very old passenger cars. They have special...More

We had such a wonderful time. Singing on the train, seeing Santa twice! Santa and Mrs. Claus came through the train to say hello. Absolutely magical. This will be a new tradition. My four year old was mesmerized. You would have to be a Scrooge...More

We arrived at the West Chester Railroad Station prior to our reservations for the last Summer Picnic Train. They have free parking in the adjacent lot. We boarded the train on time with a very friendly and accommodating volunteer crew. The Summer Picnic train allows...More

You can take a little ride through some pretty areas of the county and learn a little bit of history along the way. Some of the cars are more historic in nature and some are just old SEPTA cars. The volunteer conductors will be glad...More

West Chester Railroad-Private Charter (2 Replies)
Has anyone chartered the West Chester Railroad? We are planing a couples retreat and thought it would be an enjoyable autumn activity. Any advice or past expereince appreciated. We're also wondering what the picnic grove at the stop is like in Glen Mills to help us plan.

We didn't do it as a charter, but did the Sunday picnic ride many, many years ago. It was a LOT of fun, and the Glen Mills picnic area was lovely back then. It should be a beautiful trip in the fall.
