Best views of a dam site.
Sep 2021
Best view by a dam site. To fully appreciate the dam, stop at all the visitor centers and take the nature trail hike. Then, go into Warren and drive up Hemlock Street to the fish hatchery to get another view of the dam and power plant.

nice stop to stretch legs and see the dam
Jun 2021
Stopped here on way to Bradford and made use of time to use rest rooms though visitor center was closed on Memorial Day weekend.

I drove around and stopped at area where had steps to walk down to the water and a viewing area of the river and the dam. Nothing overly special for a dam built in 1965 but a nice diversion to stretch legs, walk the dog or use bathroom.

The park just beyond is very nice and worth driving or hiking around.

Beautiful surroundings
May 2021
The area surrounding this dam is beautiful and there are lots of hidden gems along the highway. The dam itself was a dam just like any other, it is interesting that it is a concrete and earthen dam but other than that I was a bit disappointed to not be able to walk across it. There were huge fish in the reservoir that were cool to watch!

Yep, it's a dam
Sep 2020
Rather disappointed when we saw this. It's a dam like all the rest. The surrounding mountains are beautiful, but the area immediately around the dam is so sad. The visitors center (closed) looked to be in horrible disrepair. There were other restrooms on the way (also closed) but it looked like the grass hadn't been mowed, nothing done to upkeep anything in a long time (much longer than COVID). What a shame. If this is your destination, plan on about 5 minutes to view. Unfortunately, people still need to use restrooms even when they are closed. So there was a lot of disgusting things by the locked doors. (Great way to prevent disease from spreading! hahaha).

Check out the big fish!

Was camping nearby and stopped on our way to Jake' Rocks. Loved watching the swallows nesting underneath the cement ledges. Beautiful views. Was a quick stop due to much of the site being closed due to the pandemic.

A great view
Jul 2020
Drove to this site to see the unusual mixed concrete-earth dam design, and was not disappointed. Although a lot of the site was closed due to the pandemic, it was still a beautiful vista. The location does not have cellphone reception, so make sure to have a paper map with you.

A cool attraction worth the visit
Jul 2020
We arrived on a very hot day in July. It is big, but not as big as I expected. Impressive. Look down and you will see a lot of hungry fish

Beautiful Stop

If you are in the Warren, PA area, I would recommend you make time for the Kinzua Dam. An entire town was flooded to make the lake above the dam, and control the river level below the dam. Plenty of parking and many outstanding photo opportunities.

It’s really something!

Do it. It would take years to explore it all. Boating, kayaking, canoeing, fishing, hiking, camping, sightseeing etc.

Visited in dead of winter, awesome.
Dec 2018
It's been a while, and it was dead of winter when I visited, but this is a very cool (pun intended) spot. Nice views, plenty of access to walk around this engineering marvel.
