I'm a retired golf teaching professional. I played this course twice with my wife on the bag. We met two other retired fellows on the first tee. They invited us to join them. Playing this course was one of the best times I've had in years. The "back" were plenty for me while my new friends enjoyed their "tees of choice". This course has everything from straight, short, long, and dogleg fairways you could ask for. After play we all enjoyed the outdoor grill. I highly recommend Mountain View to all level players. It's so enjoyable, we're going back up this summer. BTW...we live in sunny Florida.

Mountain View Golf Course lies in the Carroll Valley and Fairfield area about 16 miles south of Gettysburg. The area was settled by pioneers in the early 1700s, including some of my Irish and German ancestors! I was first introduced to the Mt. View course by a group of golfers from Hagerstown MD that I went to grade school with but hadn't seen in 50 years when we hooked up. Mt. View is one of our favorite courses in the MD, VA, WV, and PA area that we play. We like the Senior's discount for sure, but the course is both scenic and well-maintained. It's neither easy nor impossible--just a nice, pleasantly challenging course that makes you hone your various driving, fairway, approach, and putting skills appropriately. Some open holes, some "choke points." Beautiful surroundings. Weekdays are great for retirees and those with flexible schedules. Play it, you won't be disappointed with the course, even if your score isn't up to par!

I was in the Gettysburg Pa area with some friends and decided to play golf. Many times when you try to do this, you are limited by several factors; some clubs are private, others are nice, but extremely busy. Because of this, you end up playing a poor course that no one will go to. What a pleasant surprise Mountain View was. Very well maintained with holes that just seemed to get better as you went around. While the front nine is rather flat, but still enjoyable, the back nine more than makes up for it. Throw in a clubhouse that fits the "Gettysburg" style and very helpful pro shop staffers and you get a very enjoyable day. I will definitely be going back!
