While we originally wanted to do one of the covered bridge tours, they were full so we booked the tour out of Bird-in-Hand. We had such a great time! There are 4 of us and we were in a pair of scoot coupes. So much fun! Jessica was a fantastic guide, great personality and a lot of fun! Even though I am local and familiar with the roads and locations, it was so much fun to see everything from a different perspective and our friends from out of town loved the views and getting to visit the amish businesses. Am actually thinking of trying some of the other tours! The Halloween one looks fun and would still like to do one of the covered bridge ones.

Thank you for your review! We love when locals come out on tour with us. It’s amazing how many things we miss in our own backyards! Hope to see you on another tour.

If you are looking for a nice time this is the adventure you are looking for. My wife and I went on the farm and countryside tour. Each of us having our own scooters made it for a fun time exploring the farmland all around the area. The weather was perfect, an October day but comfortable weather wise to enjoy the beautiful scenery, wonderful conversation with new acquittances, a knowledgeable and friendly tour guide. Oh, the snacks along the way, old fashioned home-made rootbeer, fresh Pennsylvania Dutch pretzels, and ice cream that was the best I have ever tasted.
We couldn't have asked for a nicer day and discovery. We had tickets to a 3PM sight and sound show and were back in time to make it to the show with no difficulty at all. Everyone from the Amish we met, to the staff of Strasburg Scooters couldn't have been nicer.
This is a must-do for anyone looking to enjoy a wonderful morning in the countryside and learning a little bit more about the culture of this community. We are hoping to return next year and do the covered bridge tour.
If you are not up to having your own scooter (they are easy to manage) you can always rent one of Scoot coupes. My wife and I enjoyed having our own scooters.

Four of us did the Covered Bridge Tour on scooters. HAD A BLAST!! We basically just wanted to do something fun together and experience riding a scooter (moped/Vespa, whatever)… we grew up in Lancaster County so I kind of wondered if the information on the tour would be cheesy to someone already familiar with the location and the Amish. But it wasn’t cheesy! The scooters are so much fun to ride, and even in familiar territory the beautiful landscape was so much more appreciated at 20 mph than our usual faster automobile driving! And we found the scooters easy to learn; as long as you can ride a bicycle, you can probably ride a scooter. There was a total of 19 people on our particular tour, including tour guide Brian. That was maybe a bit too many people, as the tour guide really had to work hard every time we went through an intersection to make sure the entire group was still together. But we loved it, and want to bring other friends to do it again!
In addition, I think this is fantastic to do on the really hot days of summer. Our afternoon was 75°, but on the many shaded roads and with the wind whipping by, it felt almost chilly.

The concept & scenery of this tour would have warranted a 5 star review. I gave it a mere 2 stars to bring your attention to both the attitude of the instructor & the lack of safety protocol in place. I’ve been remiss in writing this review for quite some time now as I was, literally, traumatized by the experience & kept refraining from commenting so my apologies that this is long overdue. Here goes…my husband & I rented the solo scooters & we were each @ 1 of 7. There were @ 4 dbl scooters rented on our tour as well. Our guide (a female) initiated our training by stressing that for those of us on the solo scooter we should refrain from using the right hand brake. Reason being, the right handlebar is where the acceleration is as well, & she claimed that people had a tendency to accelerate while meaning to brake instead. Based on those comments, & as a new scooter driver, I followed her advice & used only the left hand brake. Over an hour into the tour, truthfully, it can be very tiring as backroad Amish country, although beautiful, is quite hilly! I was 3rd in the line & the 2 ladies in front of me were experienced scooter drivers. Our guide was on her motorcycle & liked to go at a faster pace. So, although I was going at a pace I was comfortable with to be in control of my scooter, the guide barked at me that I needed to go faster as I was holding up the line. This brings me to my first concern w/ this tour. There should always be a second guide present holding up the rear. In this way, no one should be made to feel that they need to go faster than they are comfortable with. After all, we, the customer, are required to sign a release that if we are in an accident & damage the company’s scooter, we are liable. So, no one should be asked to go at a pace where they are out of control of their scooter! About an hour into the tour, the guide informed us that we were approaching a spot where we could, “Let your Evel Knievel” out!” Once I reached the top of that hill & started descending it, my scooter was revving & shaking. Again, having been conditioned to only use the left hand brake, I was spiraling out of control very rapidly. I thought for sure that I was going down, & the scooter would be landing damaged in the woods someplace while my next stop would be the ER! God was with me, & at the 11th hour, I remembered that there was a 2nd brake on the right handlebar. After I depressed it, I got the scooter to stop revving & shaking & I was back in control. Once I got down that hill, I was left with a sick feeling in my stomach as the panic dissipated & relief began to set in. Luckily, we had a wonderful, lengthy stop shortly thereafter at an Amish farm. We parked our scooters & got off. This allowed me time to compose myself. Once back on; however, the guide had the audacity to tell me that I needed to pick up the pace for she couldn’t see the back of the line! The absolute nerve! For the benefit of all future guests, the safety protocols in place here need to drastically be reviewed. That, & a bit of empathy, understanding & knowing how to read the comfort level of one’s crowd might benefit your guide! She could also benefit from having some safety & common sense training!

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. As the owner, my number one concern is guest safety. Your review disturbed me in many ways, because this is not acceptable of our guide. We have specific protocols and procedures in place, as well as train our guides on how to train. A copy of your review has already been sent out to our guides and will be addressed with all.
Regarding the speed, all guests are required to travel at a minimum of 20 mph for their own safety and the safety of other vehicles on the road. Guests that cannot maintain this speed should not be permitted to go on tour. I don’t know what speed you were doing or were asked to do, but this will also be addressed with our staff. It is our protocol that slower and less experienced guests should be at the front of the group, while the more advanced riders “bring up the rear”. This allows the guide to set the pace based on the slowest driver, not vice-versa. From your review, this procedure was not followed.
My sincere apologies that you had this experience. I can assure you this will be addressed. Please feel free to reach out to me directly and let me know the date and time of your tour, I would like to be able to identify the specific guide.
Thank you,
Marc Crusemire, Owner

EYE WEAR IS REQUIRED. Preferably sunglasses. Also, sunscreen is recommended. A female in group said she should have applied sun screen on her boobs. The wind and sun left her a little burnt during our afternoon tour.
We took the Country Roads Excursion. We were warned by our guide Jessica that all traffic signals/signs must be obeyed. She cannot stop traffic like a funeral procession. At stop signs, we had to be extra careful to allow cars to pass before crossing roads. The scooters don't accelerate quickly as a car and the driver is unfamiliar. Although unnecessary, cars did stop and wave us through.
ADVICE for crossing roads - Angle scooter to the right to allow better vision of cars coming from the right or yell at your passenger to lean back.
Our tour took about 3.5 hours with 4 stops. That was just about the maximum desired tour length. The right wrist gets a good workout from the throttling. Drivers can swap places if driver's license was given in the digital liability release form.
The tutorial in parking lot didn't take long to learn. However, the one hand brake was farther from handle than I liked. (The left hand brake was the parking brake but disabled due to misuse. The brake is a rubber block on wheel. The passenger has the privilege of placing block on wheel which might have horse poop depending how skillful driver avoids the buggy horse poop.)
Jessica was very good in guiding us. She waited for all of us to pass stop signs before continuing. There was one sto×p where a headset would have been useful. The engine noise was too loud to hear from the back. She waved that this was a scenic stop as she confirmed later.
Riding the scooter itself was a fun experience. Add countryside views, covered bridges and Amish farm stop for dessert and drink, it was a very memorable tour.

Although we’ve visited Lancaster County many times, this was our first scooter excursion, and it was a blast! We took the Bird In Hand Country Roads tour with Brian as our tour guide. He was excellent - highly knowledgeable and funny to boot. The roads he took us on offered outstanding vistas of Amish Country, and the stops he selected for us provided insight into the Amish lifestyle - and tasty treats. We’ll be back soon with our grandson for another tour!

My wife and I, along with four of our friends, did the evening covered bridge tour. Our guide was Brian. From the very beginning Brian was welcoming, friendly, and talkative. He made us feel at home and I really appreciated the free water to take on the ride. Our entire tour included 6 scooters and I believe three scoot coupes. He taught each group individually (scooters first, then he moved on to the coupes). It was well organized, and his ability to manage a group of that size safely was great. Every Rider received individual training/guidance if they needed it before hitting the road. The tour was absolutely beautiful. Everyone in our group was all smiles the whole time. The bridges and history are fantastic. All of us agreed that we would be doing another tour. this is a great way to experience the area and it is a fantastic memory to have.

Our family of 6 went on the covered bridge tour, with Brian as our guide and we had an amazing time. Our group ranged from age 12 to late 60s, and we had two coupes and two single scooters. Brian was great - from making sure everyone was comfortable with the scooters, to giving us great (and humorous!) commentary throughout the trip. The scenery was beautiful and we all had such an amazing time! Can’t wait for our next trip back to Lancaster and to try out the other scooter trips available! We will definitely be back!!

This tour is a "must do" for anyone visiting the Lancaster PA area. The tour guide Brain is knowledgeable of the local area with personal friends in the farming way of life, and he brings the experience to life through his personalization and wit. Even if you're not into the history of covered bridges and lime kilns (both of which are fascinating, BTW), the scenery is gorgeous and well, who doesn't enjoy a scooter ride racing up and down the hills viewing the countryside and farm animals-? Fun for all ages! A+++

NOTE: We did the back roads tour, NOT the Covered Bridge Tour.
We had the best time on this excursion! Mark was our guide & went over what we needed to know beforehand, (which is why it's very important to get there early, not 5 minutes before the scheduled leave time. We had to wait for two late couples.) He was very personable & thoroughly knowledgable about the Amish/ Mennonite people & their businesses.
We loved every minute of the excursion. We aren't riders, so to have the opportunity to ride on back roads, unencumbered by a car, is thrilling. I mean, the bikes only go about 30-40 mph, but STILL fun AF.
The tour stopped at a number of businesses and farms to have a full 3.5 hour tour (shld be 3 but longer because of late people but we didn't mind at all. Really. lol). Ice cream, soft pretzels, goat cheese, popcorn and more. All delicious!
Husband and I opted for the single scooter, and we were happy we did. The two person buggy things seemed fine, but I loved having the independence of riding my own bike.
We are planning to book the Covered Bridge Tour in the fall to see what that's like.
Thank you Mark & Strasburg Scooters for a memorable day.

What covered bridges do the tours take you to? How many bridges are on the trip
Written August 25, 2019
We stopped at two and drove through a third.
Written August 28, 2019
Hello, would you recommend this for a 4 and 7 year old (in the little cars, not the scooters)? Thanks.
Written July 20, 2019
Yes. According to our 10 year old, our best tour for kids is our Country Roads Excursion from our Bird In Hand Location.
Written August 7, 2019
It's supposed to be around three hours, but it lasted longer than that. All of it very worthwhile. The tour guides are knowledgeable and the country side is beautiful.

How long is the date night tour? Will we be riding in the dark?
Written June 5, 2019
Our Date Night Tour is approximately an hour and a half. You will be riding in the dark.
Thanks

Are there other options than riding the scooters for the coveted bridge tour? Can we rent a car? Price? Can we use our own van rental? This looks awesome but am concerned about balance issues on the scooters.
How many covered bridges do we see on this tour? Can we stop to take pictures for each bridge?
Thanks!
Written March 1, 2018
We saw 2 covered bridges and one amish families barn. But, it was ful of other beautiful scenery.
