Visited with kindergarten child. Variety of interactive displays and experiments. Well arranged to allow space for children and parents to share experiences.

Small but Grandkids liked it
Jun 2019 • Family
Was looking to find rainy day activities for our Grand kids. Bottom line was the kids seemed to like it. Probably good for about a hour.

Fun place to explore for a couple of hours (especially when weather bad)

We were passing through State College on a long road trip and were thrilled to find this place by chance. We spent 2 hours here and could have easily spent another hour, as our kids (ages 6 and 2) had a blast. Everything in the building is hands-on and kids can be self-directed in their play. As the name suggests, the Discovery Space is focused on science. My 6 year old was into hearing the scientific explanations as he played whereas my 2 year old just wanted to play. What's great is the Discovery Space is set up for both types of play. Others have commented that the space is small, but for me it was comparable to what I expected for a town the size of State College. I think it is a wonderful resource for the community and an awesome alternative to bouncy-house type indoor play.

Took my 2 year old granddaughter here and we spent almost 2 hours. Lots of hands on science stations and interesting for all. She loved digging for dinosaur bones.

Smaller than we Expected.
Jul 2018 • Family
My wife and I took our two kids here while visiting the area. We have been to other similar spaces and were surprised to find how small this one was. My youngest son (6) had a good time but wasn't really interested in the principles behind each exhibit and just ran around playing. My older son (11) tried everything quickly and then became bored and wanted to leave. Their website advertises that it is for kids up to 14 years-old but I think that is very overestimated.

A number of the exhibits were out of service as well. I wouldn't go again.

Thank you for sharing your comments, we are very sorry your experience was less than you hoped for. As we are a growing center, we find all visitor feedback valuable and useful in planning marketing, future exhibits, and programs. We are working actively to be more interactive for older kids, and appreciate you sharing your experience with your children.

Nice place for kids

We took our 3 year old there for an afternoon of fun. He seemed to enjoy himself. The science concepts were hard for him to understand as he was too young. But he found the activities fun none-the-less. He really enjoyed the train table.

Plenty to keep our 3 year old interested
Jun 2018 • Family
My wife and I recently visited the Discovery Center with our 3 year old while on a weekend visit to State College. We were there for a little over 3 hours in the afternoon, and all had a wonderful time. While many of the educational aspects of the activities were over the head of our son’s age, he still loved “playing” with the exhibits, particularly the “roller coaster” and the color wheel. Of course, the train table was a major hit! I’d definitely recommend a visit to anyone with kids interested in science, or just looking for a fun way to fill an afternoon.

A wonderful Children's Science Museum
Nov 2017 • Family
Discovery Space has just recently moved into much larger quarters so it can continue to offer the activities to an ever increasing demand. The museum offers hands on science exhibits that are designed to engage children as well as teach/explain scientific principles. There success can be scene by watching the faces of the children that fill the museum daily. A great education and fun place for the younger members of the community.

Growing in new space
Oct 2017 • Solo
The Discovery Space has recently moved as of September 2017 into a new building on North Atherton St. Much more room for displays, exhibits, and classroom/camp. Check them out in their new digs, and see what all they have to offer. Let them know if you have ideas for content or program, as they are always looking for ways to grow and improve.
