About
The Amish Village is an authentic look at today's Amish lifestyle. Located on 12 scenic acres, The Amish Village lets visitors experience an authentic Amish property, including a one-room schoolhouse, blacksmith shop, smokehouse market and more. To begin an understanding of the Pennsylvania Dutch culture, The Amish Village provides a 25-minute guided farmhouse tour. A 90-minute back roads bus tour is also offered to take you off the beaten path, past working farms and along country roads where buggies roll along and farmers work their fields.

I know there are many reviews from visitors who took the bus tour, but in our case, we were short on time and were looking for something simpler.

If you find yourself in that same predicament, I would recommend the $12 house tour which we thought was a reasonable price for the experience we had.

I do want to give a huge amount of kudos to the young woman who led the house tour. She was amazing! I know she must give that same tour hundreds of times a month, but her knowledge of the Amish people and their customs is impressive and she delivers the oral history in a fluid, easy-to-digest manner. Just a sensational tour guide who made the entire experience that much better.

After the tour, you are let out in a mock village to walk around on your own. While that may sound kind of lame, it was actually quite enjoyable given the fact you walk through multiple areas where you can pet and feed many live animals including horses, goats, donkeys, and chickens. If you have kids with you, this will perhaps be the highlight of their visit. So, for the $12 price tag, the tour and walkabout were definitely worth it.

We did the premium package that included the bus tour through the Amish Country side and the tour of a traditional Amish Home. We did make two stops at two different Amish Market Sides to purchase hand made goods and, produce, hand made pretzels, and home made ice cream. At the ice cream stop there is a nice petting zoo with goats, alpacas, cows, chickens, turkeys. bring quarters for the food. At the end of the Amish house tour there is a barn area with horses, cows, goats. They allow you to spend as much time at the barn petting the animals until it closes at pm. The only problem we encountered was one very rude staff member in the gift shop. We accidentally purchased two tickets twice totaling 4 tickets. Two staff members urged us to show our receipt and get the refund for the accidental purchase of two extra tickets. The one rude staff member said no because she turned away other people thinking we were a party of 4. Turns out, their were 6 empty seats on the bus.

I went to the Amish village on a school field trip when I was younger and was so excited to revisit as an adult. I brought my husband who grew up in a different state and my in laws, so it was their first time learning about the Amish and their community. Every single staff member we encountered was all smiles and extremely nice, ready to help us with any questions. The bus tour was nice, mainly a scenic view of Lancaster, specifically going through the area where the Amish live. Even as someone who grew up nearby and had always seen the Amish, I still learned new things! The farmhouse tour was great as well, a good option for younger children who don’t have a very long attention span. I loved seeing the animals (and loved that they were all rescues) and was able to buy some hand made things to support locals. If you don’t know anything about the Amish community, or if you grew up next door, it is still 100% worth visiting for the day! Everyone is amazing!

I would recommend going on a week day or Saturday, that way you could visit some local shops, or the Amish run restaurant that is practically across the street!

The Trip to the Amish Village Tour was well worth a visit and the most enjoyable part of the tour i like was taking the exclusive bus tour visiting the real Amish Village country side area where you see large estate homes with farms at the backyard area and the huge corn fields and pumpkins that they grow on site.
It's interesting to see how the Amish people live and learn about their culture and see them walking on the streets barefoot especially the ladies in their long black gown dress and also seeing them riding on their carriage horse to get around the village town area. Its a must to see if you decided to visit a good native country side area driving on a road trip and see the interior areas and antique shops as well.
Highly recommend this to all my friends and business associates and especially for tourists visiting from overseas they will truly leave with a great memorable experience. I purchased the Premium package which includes the Bus Tour and the farm house which was well worth the price and the time spent on property.

The Amish Farm Museum
Just a few miles south of US-30 on PA 896 lies an instructive museum and exhibit space committed to explain how the Amish live, and how they differ from the ”English” Included are animal pens, tour of the family house, several gift shops with remarkable food and nick knacks to remember your visit. Plan on 2 hours to see the entire exhibit and wear sunscreen when going outside. It is bright and warm outside.
We also took a 90 minute bus tour of the Amish farm country. Wayne was our driver and tour guide. He was a wealth of knowledge and very personable. We had a great time.

This was an amazing experience! We did the premium tour which included a 90 minute bus tour, a house tour, and a self-guided tour of the grounds. Our tour bus guide was extremely knowledgable and answered all of our questions. We learned so much about the Amish community and got to experience several Amish businesses as well both on the tour and at the farm. Highly recommend!

Our group opted for the farmhouse tour instead of the over the road variety due to weariness from our bus excursion to Lancaster County.
I fretted that this might have been a timid way to explore Amish life, but our tour guide, Mychala, soon put that notion to rest.

She was very informative and very patient with our slow- trodding senior group and she successfully answered a bunch of questions.

I lot of "I never knew thats" came from us as she expertly detailed what it was like, and is, to live the Amish life.

A biggie for me was the answer as to why the menfolk don't sport mustaches. Ah, not gonna tell you... you'll have to go on the tour!

There are a lot of farm animals on the property, usually found on Amish farms, and it was interesting to know that several were in one way or another, I guess you would say handicapped, and were under a veterinarians care at the Amish Village. Nice people!

There are other authentic buildings to explore, as well as some Amish delicacies, can you say shoo fly pie, as well as some nice souvenirs.

Pleasant way to spend a day, for sure1

From the road the Amish Village looks a bit like a small tourist trap. In fact it was one of my favorite parts of the trip. We bought the whole package where we saw and heard about the Amish home, went one a very informative bus tour and saw the little village. I would definitely recommend doing all three. It was definitely worth the price.

My granddaughter and I enjoyed our visit. The bus tour was wonderful - seeing and learning about the Amish way of life was enlightening. Our tour guide was most informative and answered all our questions. We highly recommend Amish Farms - visit next time you are in Lancaster you won't be disappointed.

I was very disappointed with the bus ride. Our driver drove super fast and never pointing things out until we had passed by them. She never use directions like “look to your left or look to your right and you will see…” Her commentary on the Amish seemed very disparaging like she doesn’t like them. it almost felt like we were just driving to different locations for us to get out and shop rather than to see the life of the Amish. The tour of the house and farm was kind of cool. I just think it might have been better had they had people at each section of the farm to explain The location. They probably could’ve found some real Amish or Mennonite people to be there. I had a much better time on the horse and buggy ride from another company, that I took through Amish territory as soon as I left this location.
