It was the year 1829 when Americans were getting used to their newly elected president, Andrew Jackson, that 23-year old David G. Yuengling, an immigrant from Wurttemberg, Germany, settled in Pottsville, Pennsylvania, and started a brewery.

Originally named the Eagle Brewery, today the Yuengling pride, symbolic of the American Eagle. Each Yuengling label bears the eagle trademark chosen by young David Yuengling so long ago.

Previously located on Centre Street, current site of Pottsville's after only two years of operation. A new brewery was then constructed on Mahantongo Street, where operations

continue today.

The brewery remains family operated by Richard "Dick" Yuengling, Jr. and his daughters are being groomed as the sixth generation.

Our tour guide was very nice and informative. Like the other reviews say, it can be very hot on the tour! But rest assured there is cold beer waiting at the end for you! I was somewhat disappointing when comparing to other beer tours like Harpoon or Green Flash that you only get to sample 2 beers. Anything else you... More

This is the oldest brewery in the US. Some parts of it are pretty cool (literally - in a cave) and some parts are not. The cave where they first started the fermentation process was interesting. The government made them block this off during prohibition. We went on the tour on a Saturday so no bottling production was going on.... More

This has been on my to-do list for a long time and I'm very glad I got to do it. The tour was really informative and explored a lot of the brewery. The new gift shop and tasting room has a museum in the making which was great. My only complaint was that the tour route has recently changed and... More

This was an awesome tour!!!! Our tour guide Sarah was so into our tour!!! She had so much knowledge and made it super interesting!!!! The beer caves and all of the history of this brewery make it really unique!!! It's a brewery but it's also a really awesome history lesson as well. It would be interesting even for the non-beer... Visited the Yuengling Brewery. Had a great tour of the original brewery. The tour was more historical than about brewing beer. Tour was very fascinating. Beer was very good too!!!

We had a great tour that ended with beer and ice cream what could be better! We drove a 33 ft RV and we're able to park on the street.

First, WEAR CLOSED TOED SHOES! NO SANDALS! You can't take the tour in sandals. Fortunately, you can buy a pair of closed toed shoes for $5 prior to the tour. Second, be prepared to climb and go down steps. The tour is not for people that have issues with mobility. This is a real working brewery. Third, enjoy the tour.... More

Great tour, and free! Very interesting. The tour guide was enthusiastic and friendly. I very much appreciated going out onto the bottling floor as opposed to having to watch through a glass window. It's nice to get close to one aspect of how something we drink is made. I also enjoyed the free samples at the end. I would do... More

We had a great time during the free 60 minute tour of the original but still operating brewery. Our tour guide was an entertaining and charming young lady! This was my second time on the tour and it was just as interesting plus they have opened a new gift shop and sample bar! My friends who have toured larger breweries... More
