It was the year 1829 when Americans were getting used to their newly elected president, Andrew Jackson, that 23-year old David G. Yuengling, an immigrant from Wurttemberg, Germany, settled in Pottsville, Pennsylvania, and started a brewery.

Originally named the Eagle Brewery, today the Yuengling pride, symbolic of the American Eagle. Each Yuengling label bears the eagle trademark chosen by young David Yuengling so long ago.

Previously located on Centre Street, current site of Pottsville's after only two years of operation. A new brewery was then constructed on Mahantongo Street, where operations

continue today.

The brewery remains family operated by Richard "Dick" Yuengling, Jr. and his daughters are being groomed as the sixth generation.

Our large group had a private tour reservation. Our tour guide was fantastic and fascinating. Tour was an hour and a half and incredibly informative. It ended with beer tasting. Everyone in our group of 35+ enjoyed our visit- kids and teens and grow ups included

What a great sneak peak into local history...for a local company that is now national. I'm not always an avid history buff, but this tour is very interesting with information on how the beer was and is made, put in kegs, stored, etc, including some fun stories from prohibition. You get to sample some free beers at the end or... More

I took my husband here for his birthday (he's a beer lover), and it was great! He loved it! Our tour guide was awesome and had lots of interesting stories and information to share. Loved seeing the caves that were dug out by hand (no explosives). Beer tasting was superb...and they had Yuengling ice cream for purchase too! We bought... More

I'm not much of a drinker but from time to time like to indulge myself and have a good beer. Yuengling it's just that. Great beer with a nice variety of choices. Fresh, catering to pretty much every taste. If you combine this with the tour of the brewery it's win all around. If you're close don't miss this gem.... More

I would recommend this tour for beer lovers, especially those who enjoy Yuengling. The tours go every 45 people, but they fill up pretty quick. It was busy for a Saturday morning at 11:00. They have a very nice (and large) gift shop and museum to browse while you wait. The walking tour is about 45 minutes, and the only... More

Highly recommend this tour!! We had such a good time seeing the caves & the whole operation of Yuengling today. Our tour guide, Vicky, was excellent and was such fun to listen to. It's great to hear that this business is still family owned by fifth generation Yuenglings. The free samplings of beer was a nice ending to tour!!

While traveling from the Philadelphia area to Central PA, we wandered off the turnpike to take the scenic route. Our drive took us through Pottsville and we had to visit the Yuengling Brewery. What a great way to spend a few hours learning about America's Oldest brewery, the beer making process, and sampling some great beer. 🍻 The tour is... More

We toured this brewery since we like the product but can't get in our state! We were visiting friends in a nearby town, so came down for a morning tour. It was very informative, especially being an old brewery...lots of history. Our tour guide was very good. The tour ends with getting 2 samples. They have a great gift shop... More

We had a great tour. The tour group was large but our guide had a powerful voice. The caves and the whole history of the brewery were very interesting. The gift shop prices were reasonable. The tour is free and you sample two 4 ounce berrs.

Wonderful tour. The tour took about an hour and we saw the old caves that were part of the original brewery. Wonderful tour guide.
